We have just recently switched from the lake life to pool ownership. Hopefully I can figure this out! Going on third season and switching to chlorine from Baquacil.

Thanks Texas Splash! Just ordered my test kit waiting on it. I was really considering a drain and refill. Thoughts?

Draining to get most of the baqua out is very helpful. With an above ground pool you don’t want to drain lower than 12-18 inches or you risk the liner shifting. If your pool is buried at all you shouldn’t drain below the level of the surrounding ground.

Sooner he better I'd say to help keep algae out of the equation. Good luck!

Yes - leave 12”-18” of water in the pool.
The sooner you begin the better, less uv & heat to also consume your chlorine. It takes some time to convert so starting sooner will eat up less of the swim season.

Been there done that. Got to be too much work to load up for the lake (and unload) when it's 100+......easier to walk out the back door and fall in the pool!

We had free use of the neighbors pool across the street but we still had to load up like we were going to the beach. We brought out own towels / snacks / drinks / toys so we weren't taxing them.

Liquid chlorine is harder to find in pure form (at least here). Don't use anything that is Clorox, splashless, fabric protection, blu, blue, has fragrance, or has any additives. Find liquid chlorine or straight bleach.

Started cleaning everything today. Cleaned all parts of pump and filter. Got some big debris out and started vacuuming and draining. Going to get Down to knee deep and try to get in and scrub the walls and floor. Another vacuum to waste then refill and start the chlorine.

Be careful using your vac to waste option for draining below the skimmer lest you accidentally run the pump dry.
A submersible pump is ideal.

Here is what I’m starting with. About knee deep of last years water. I’ve got the hose in there now, probably some time tomorrow I will update with test results. Then hit with the Chlorine. Also, the pic doesn’t show it but the water is somewhat cloudy with some light colored debris floating around.
