Hello,

After nursing my old compool controller along for decades, it is now down to one working circuit which I have connected to the main pump. So it looks like I will need do the Compool to Easytouch Upgrade to get my Polaris working again. The question is, do I need to get the one with a transformer? I have been unable to identify my system other than LX10 and I sure don't want to damage the new board is my old transformer is not compatible.

Also, is there any chance my indoor controls will still work? I was used to this ancient system that did everything I wanted, I sure wish I could have just repaired what I have. Thank you for your help.

Indoor control will not work with the upgrade kit. LX-10 power center requires the kit with the transformer.

I received my upgrade kit and I just wanted to make sure I have my transformer wired correctly. I believe Black is hot and the picture with the blue block is how I have it wired now. I need to affix the new sticker but I might buy a new box.

If I understand correctly, I don't need any of the wiring from my current indoor controller. I'm also losing the wring from my nonfunctioning heater and valves. So this should be real simple with the only circuits being the pool pump and polaris. The kit also came with a water temp sensor which is easy enough.

Again, I was just hoping someone double check my wiring of the transformer. Thanks!

DT,

Let's hold off powering things up until we get someone that knows how to upgrade the compool box..

I know nothing about the upgrade you are doing, but if it uses the standard Pentair System transformer, then my guess is that it is wired correctly.

I assume that the Yellow and Black wires on the Right side of the blue block is your L1 and L2 (240 volts) inputs from a circuit breaker. Is that correct?

I also assume that the Yellow and Black wires on the left are going to the primary side of the new System transformer. Is that correct?

I assume that the Purple wire is connected to the center pin just to keep it out of the way. Is that correct?

If that is true, then it appears to be wired correctly for 240 VAC input power.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hello Jimrahbe,

I assume that the Yellow and Black wires on the Right side of the blue block is your L1 and L2 (240 volts) inputs from a circuit breaker. Is that correct? That is correct, but what I was confused about was if it makes a difference if the Black wire or Yellow wire is on top. I just kept the Yellow wire in the location of the "230V" on each sticker. But now that I'm looking at the new sticker below, I think that just refers to the voltage on that side and doesn't have anything to do with wire placement.

I also assume that the Yellow and Black wires on the left are going to the primary side of the new System transformer. Is that correct? This is correct and the sticker above is pretty clear which wire from the transformer goes.

Thank you for your help!

DT,

Looks like you are good to go!!!

The Yellow and Black wires on the right, that bring in your 240 VAC, are interchangeable. It does not matter which color goes where, as long as one wire goes to Pin 1 and the other wire goes to Pin 3.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I didn't "upgrade" from Compool to EasyTouch; I did a total replacement, including a new indoor wall mounted wired controller where the CP controller used to be.

I was able to reuse the wires from the outdoor panel to the wall-mounted indoor controller. My CP used 2 telephone lines. The ET only needs one cable with 4 conductors. I cut off the phone plugs & used the existing wires. Works fine.

I need to do a replacement as well. Can you tell me what models ET and indoor controller you used? Sounds pretty straight forward.

I'm not sure there are relevant model numbers. I got my ET8 the year before it was replaced by the IntelliCenter, so what ever the "last" models were is what I got.

I don't see a model number on the ET8. Maybe it's behind a panel. Below is a photo of the innards of my wired controller for what it's worth.

Wouldn't you rather skip the ET and go directly to IntelliCenter? ET will become unsupported in the near future.
