SoFL here and, while not HD, our local pool store sells 10.5% 2.5 gal jugs for 10 bucks.
That's a good price at Wal-mart. I've been paying $12.00 for 2 gallons at Lowe's.I came here today in search of chlorine options. HD in Peoria is now $17.97 for a freakin 2 gallon case. Omg! What in sam heck?!?! Where are you getting your liquid chlorine from now? I was at Walmart last night and they had 10% 2 gallon cases for about $10.
Just checked Lowe's online price and it jumped to $14.98 for a box of 2 gallons. Ugh.I came here today in search of chlorine options. HD in Peoria is now $17.97 for a freakin 2 gallon case. Omg! The joys of owning a poolI think two gallons for 10.54 of 10% is about as cheap as it gets. Can you imagine the cost to slam your pool? My friend has 45K gallon pool and it’s a swamp.
A Pentair IC60 cell can easily be had for $1,350. Over its 10,000-hour rated life it should generate the equivalent of about 1,000 gallons of 10% chlorine. At the current chlorine prices everything it makes after the first 1,500 hours is free chlorine. $1.35 a gallon equivalent prorated cost ain't bad, either. The joys of owning a pool![]()
Just set opening here on Long Island for March 28th for our salt-water pool. In anticipation, started looking at Walmart for Salt and Liquid Chlorine to do that initial slam and clean-up and also to chlorinate while the water is too cold to use the SWG. Last year's price at Walmart for Pool Essentials 10% was $4.63/gallon. Looks like it's at $5.47 now. 18.1% price increase is a heckuvalot higher than inflation!!! I haven't checked the pool stores but Lowes is in the $7s and HD is high $9s.Anyone find a cheaper supply?
What I have seen with HD, who does carry through the fall/winter here, is that once WalMart starts putting it back on the shelf in the $4-$5 range, they later follow suit and lower.I haven't checked the pool stores but Lowes is in the $7s and HD is high $9s.
On the plus side, we won't need all that much to get by before it warms up. The SWG will kick on before the daily demand increases to regular season levels.
I'll pick up 6 or so and end up using 4 of them to clean my vinyl siding and fence.
Did you really just say "pool store" on TFP? Oh boy...you'd better hope a moderator doesn't find you. They're gonna take you out back and show you what they do with people that go into pool stores!I haven't checked the pool stores but Lowes is in the $7s and HD is high $9s.

They often have good prices for LC and MA for the strong stuff. You can also catch steals on equipment when they're looking to unload stuff. And when you need a cheap part on a Sunday like an O-ring, you won't care it's $3 more than Amazon.Did you really just say "pool store" on TFP?
I know a guy.you'd better hope a moderator doesn't find you
Yes.Anyone have Home Depot price match Walmart? I'm 2 miles from Home Depot and the closest Walmart is about 15 miles.
