Had a crack in my far skimmer black poly line so im going to just replace all my lines 2 skimmers, 2 return jets. This is a 40 year old 35k gallon vinly pool with 1.5 black poly piping. The fittings into the pool and the bottom of my skimmers are all 1.5" so is there any advantage in replacing the lines ~200ft of rigid PVC with 2" pipe instead of 1.5" pipe? Is this a mater of you are only as efficient as the smallest diameter? Or is there benefits of having most of the pipe 2" but the returns and skimmer inlets still 1.5"? Hope this makes sense, thanks!!!

If you're replacing all of the plumbing pipes (~200ft) to your pool, then yes, absolutely use 2" PVC pipe. If you are replacing the skimmers, just use 2" skimmers. The 1.5" return inlets will be fine.
If you replace all the plumbing with 2" the 1.5" skimmer (likely less than 2" in connection length) and returns will not be much of an influence. For the science Google Bernoulli Effect. Go with 2" as much as you can.
Awesome will do! Now that im sold on the 2" whats the actual benefit? Longer lasting pool pump, lower electricity bill?
If you have a single-speed pump you might see a reduction in energy use, but it would be little. The main advantage will be that more water for the same energy usage can be moved. With a VSP, you could turn the RPM down, save energy, and move the same amount of water. You may be able to cut down on run time and get the same or better water quality. Pump, if noisy now, would probably get quieter as the 2" lines would be able to supply it with sufficient water.
