Looks like screws were over tightened and this has cracked. Is this something that needs to be replaced? I take it water would have to be lowered below the returns. Was getting ready to close for winter can I do this in the Spring?

So the return housing screw on fitting was overtightened, cracking the wall return faceplate ? Am I seeing it right ?

That faceplate sandwiches the liner to make the opening water tight. Where is it in relation to the liner bulge(s) ?

Yes that is correct. Out of the three returns two of them are like this. The water behind the liner walls is not located around the returns. In addition the water behind the liner walls only happens when it rains.

You know how hard I root for all you folks with issues. :)

Once the thought was in my head I was thinking that it could have been a combo and either half of it wasn't as noticeable. It's moot now. Lol.

OK so the water needs to be lowered to replace the faceplates. Letting a possible leak go unaddressed is about the worse thing you can do with steel walls. The timing is unfortunate, but think long term. (y)

Once I have the water issue figured out I am going to get a new liner installed. From water behind the liner walls so much it wrinkled the foam in several areas and allowed grit to get behind liner as well which I tried to push in and smooth out. Also have several indentions on floor and a area next to the stairs that feels like a bowling ball fell in it.

If the pool shows no signs of leaking water I would not touch that return. Just check the crack annually and replace it at the next liner replacement.

You might want to put a thin coat of epoxy or crazy glue on the crack if youc an do it without touching the liner.

Are the spots flaps or stains ? It kinda looks like they pinched some of the gasket or wall insulation.

Well you found us a new algae spot to check in the never ending SLAM threads. :ROFLMAO:

Hopefully they were just dirty and not rusty.
