How can you reliably tell if bleach is free of additives? Is it best to just use a store brand (Kroger)?

Yikes, that was the end of March when it was made (89th day of 2022). Chlorine degrades. May be better to get the plain stuff from Kroger.

At my local kroger the plainest generic bleach still contains “fabric protection” so read the labels carefully.
If you can find some cloralen plain bleach
It is unadulterated & 7-8%
