I scoured existing threads and couldn't find a similar scenario. Back in June, my iChlor 30 (installed in April of this year with the new pool) started to provide a temp roughly 10 degrees higher than my electronic pool thermometer. I validated my pool thermometer's accuracy by comparing it to 3 other thermometers, and all were within a 3-4 degree range of each other. If anything, my pool thermometer is reading a few degrees high.
After months of back and forth with the pool installer (debating the "reliability of the iChlor's temp" vs. other thermometers), they finally came out and exchanged the sensor 4 days ago. Unfortunately, the new sensor is reading a temp higher than my thermometer (66 vs. 82, I live in MA, ain't no way the water is 82F after a few weeks of nights in the 50's and daytime temps averaging a sad 75 at best). I checked the cell and there is no calcium build up and the unit is producing chlorine (although the temperature inaccuracy has resulted in an inaccurate salinity reading and rarely the unit thinks the salinity is >2,500 ppm, resulting in it refusing to produce).
Does anyone know what could be causing this issue? I've seen folks mention their faulty flow sensors not reading at all or reading in the 100's, but replacing the part usually fixes the issue. In my case, the new sensor's reading is as consistently incorrect as the old one's reading, leading me to believe the issue is elsewhere. But where else could the issue be? Could the unit's logic board be malfunctioning so specifically so it only affects the temperature by 10-15 degrees? Or could the transformer be over or under juiced, leading to an incorrect temperature? Or something else?
I'm hopeful that the installer just replaces the entire unit and transformer so we can stop the back and forth, but I just want to get a better understanding of why this is happening.
