The net result is:

2H2 + O2 + 4H2O + 4Cl-

The only thing that you lose is water in the form of hydrogen and oxygen gas, which is basically the same as the electrolysis of water.

So, you lose 4 hydrogen atoms (charge of +1 each) in the form of hydrogen gas and 2 oxygen (charge of -2 each) atoms, which is a loss of an equivalent amount of positive and negative charge.

What does it mean to "run" a biomedical lab?

Since you have access to top scientists, have you asked them for help in understanding the chemistry involved?

How well do you feel you understand chemistry in general?

Overall, it seems like you are familiar some of the words without really understanding what they actually mean.
 
In some cases, it might be possible to lose some chlorine gas, which would leave an excess of hydroxide, which would raise the TA and pH, but this seems like it does not happen much to most pools.

Maybe if the distance from the cell to the pool is very short, you might get some loss of chlorine gas like in the AquaTrol RJ model where the cell is required to be near the pool to allow excess gas to escape.

Even if some chlorine gas is lost, the charge is still balanced.

I guess you'd be up for a Nobel Prize if you found a violation of charge conservation in a swimming pool. But in reality, you'd probably be lining up for an Ig Nobel Prize in trying to find this violation.

I confess, this is one situation where I prefer fresh rather than salt for a trouble free cocktail. I don‘t want to risk a build up of sodium chloride ions due to a margarita or two. :cheers:

Can you get lighting bolts ⚡to spew from the margarita? I’ve heard a rumor that if you make it a certain way, somehow excess anions with resulting charge imbalance, that might be possible. Imagine the guests’ reaction at your next happy hour!

Lightning bolt ⚡ straws, swizzle sticks or spoons for frozen are probably available but I don‘t have organization skills to that level.🙂

All this theoretical pool chemistry is very tiring, I was about to run a few tests but I think I need a nap first. 🥱

We should verify that other subatomic properties are also conserved.

Color charge needs to be considered as well as momentum, mass/energy, angular momentum, strangeness, spin, the eigenvalues of the flavor quantum charge operators such as electric charge, weak isospin, baryon number and lepton number.

Any imbalance could cause a rip in the fabric of space-time, so please balance very carefully.

And that's where we're losing water: Not just rips in the pool liner, no in the very fabric of space-time itself.

Nearly lunchtime, I think I have to ditch that coffee, and open a cold one. Better make sure that I'm the one who rips that can open.

It may also lead to the increase of nitrates in the pool from bather waste
