I am getting my taylor drop kit on Friday, so I know that the test strips are a educated guess at best. My CH registers 500 to 1000 this morning(so accurate). I tested my tap water, I am using a pre-filter, and that CH is 100.

Tap Water:
FC: 0
TA: 40
pH: 8.4
CH: 100

I'm using a Saltron Mini, and am in the process of figuring out the best time, 4 hours currently. FC is all over the place, but I'm not going to worry until I can get some accurate measurements. This is my second fill, and both times CH has been steadily creeping up all the time. Any ideas?

PS: I have been reading here and watching the TA pH lecture. Have the "How do I use Chlorine..." post open and reference it often.

With calcium in your tap water, there will usually be a slow steady rise. The amount of will be controlled by the rate of evaporation and subsequent tap water addition, and the amount of rain you get that requires draining over the winter.

Do you use any calcium hypochlorite for general chlorination or as shock? That can add up quickly.

Thanks, I just looked at all my labels, and cant find any calcium. I have a non-chlorine shock once a week, it's a sulfate. I have added Caribbean Spa Enzymes Plus, the only thing with out an ingredients list, and I have added a small, like 5grams, of dichlor this fill. I'm using Dead Sea mineral salts, according to the unit good levels, according to the garbage test strip 1,000 ppm.
