I was curious if anyone may respond to this old thread. I too have the exact same setup. I preformed the above steps by tying the two yellow wires and was able to get heater to turn on. I am now at the step to check continuity. I touched both wires while asking the panel for heat and heard no sound on v meter. What next steps should i take? Thank you

Welcome to TFP.

You have an EasyTouch panel?

Open up the top low voltage panel and find the Gas Heater connector that the other end of the wire should be connected to.

Put your probes on the two screws. Call for heat and you should have the relay close and get continuity between the screws. If you don't then your relay is bad.

Hello! I did test on the panel and it did beep. However when i tested the two wires that run to the heater it dis54B5FDE4-E904-4281-A042-92EFD95C0292.jpegB9FFAFB3-07F8-4C7D-873F-FC17A8D2264A.jpeg beep but not consistently. Also, when i put it back together and asked for heat it did come on. But then the panel on the heater went out and back to square one. Im thinking maybe the wire is bad?? Any thoughts? Thank you

If the heater works standalone and the relay tests good then it points to the wire being bad. Critter have been known to chew on wires.

Use a high temperture wire as specified in the Installation Manual.

Make sure that you are noting having an issue with your automation temp sensor. People tend to overlook that and think it's a heater problem. So look to see what the automation says your current water temp is. Also, you need to check for continuity on the wire between the heater and the automation. Easy to disconnect at heater and automation, twist the two ends together at either the automation or the heater and then use your meter to test for continuity.

If you need to replace the wire between the automation and the heater, you can use thermostat wire from one of the big box home improvement stores.

I did check and temps were good. I will check the wire again. I have not connected both ends of wire but have called for heat and checked both ends. Thank you
