Intellicenter feature circuit / relay question

I had the equipment installers add a "pool high" feature circuit so we can have 2 schedules with different pump speeds ("pool" and "pool high"). When we run "pool high", it is not triggering the relay that provides power to intellichem, which is wired to the top left relay (we have the 10-relay panel). Is there a way to do this? i've browsed around and can't see how it's being turned on. thanks for your help!

Create a CIRCUIT GROUP that contains POOL HIGH and your INTELLICHEM AUX.

It does not need to be circuit group. Your problem is your scheduling.

For the IntelliChem (which we do not recommend) to run you must be in the Pool mode or Spa mode.

I am sure your slower speed is assigned to the Pool Circuit. Your High speed does not turn on the pool circuit, You need to have them both on at the same time, so that the Pump/Filter relay is on.

As an example. If you have Pool scheduled to run 8 am until 8 pm and pool high schedule to run from 10 am until 1 pm then this is what will happen.

The pump will come on at 8 am and run your Pool speed, at 10 am the pump will increase the speed to "high" it will stay that way until 1 pm when the speed will drop back to your Pool speed until everything shuts off at 8 pm.

It does this because when the pump sees two or more speeds it will always run the fastest speed.

I don't think your installers have a clue how your system works..

The installer just did what I asked, which was to have a way to run the pool at a different speed. Unfortunately, I cannot stand the equipment/service company owner and don't want to ask him questions. But the installer is actually pretty good. I just don't have access to him.

I can see that the top left relay is what's supplying power to intellichem and the heater; I'm assuming that's the pool circuit. I understand you are saying that there is no way to turn that relay on without running the pool, spa or spillway (those all currently turn the relay on). So, the only way to do this is to nest a "pool high" schedule inside a regular "pool" schedule. Did I get that right?

Yes,

Here is a list of my speeds just to give you a reference. My pool mode is on 24/7 so that when I turn on Skim low, Skim high, or waterfall, my pump changes to the assigned speed for that circuit.

The relay in the upper right LEFT of the cabinet is called the Pump/Filter relay. It is only one when in the Pool, Spa, (Spillover if you use it)

Yes you just need to 'nest' the pool high schedule within the same time as the pool schedule.



Here's an example with my schedule, from an Intellicenter, so it may look more familiar. I run my pool circuit 24/7, same as Jim, so I'm always producing chlorine. Then anything else that is scheduled just bumps the speed up to whatever I want for that circuit. For example, my Pool circuit runs at 1100 rpm all the time, and my in floor cleaner (Cleaner) runs at 2700 rpm. So Pool is running along at 1100 rpm, at 9am the cleaner circuit turns on, and increases the pump speed to 2700rpm. All the while leaving the Pool circuit on as well, continuing to make chlorine.

Thanks everyone. Nesting the schedule took care of it, and I also now have a better understanding how my panel is wired.

Jim, in my case it's wired differently than yours. The relay in the upper LEFT corner (when facing the panel) is the pool/spa/spillway relay, to which they've also wired the heater and Intellichem. Aux 1-4 follow, left to right. Aux 5-9 are on the second row, also left to right. In my case, only Aux 9 is still open.

Appreciate everyone taking the time to help. I know most here are Intellichem haters, and I may grow to be one of them, too. But so far, it's working out well for both acid and chlorine. If it stops working out, I'll dump in salt, re-install my unused IC-60, and just use the acid tank.

We are not haters of anything... We are "likers" of stuff that we find works well for us, and not things that have proven to be problematic to our members.
