Our 6 year old IC40 is saying low salt but salt level per taylor test is 3400. Am looking to install an IC60 in its place as we've had to run the IC40 at 100% just to keep chlorine levels adequate. Our 27K pool is in direct sun basically all day long and we have to constantly skim stuff out of it due to fairly persistent winds in order to keep the organic contaminants low. The length of the IC60 says 17" which is the same the IC40 lists at so figure it should be a fairly easy swap. We have the Easy Touch system that's compatible with IC20-IC60. Just don't want to have to change our plumbing at all as our pool repair/remodel guy is being problematic lately. This should be a simple swap, yes?

My 2nd question is if anyone has done business with waterworksproducts.com or has heard of them as I found a really good price on an IC60 there. If I'd known how crazy expensive it was going to be to replace the stupid cell after only 6 years I may have reconsidered going with a swcg. Thanks to the failed cell we're dealing with SLAM'ing our pool for black algae so stuck buying chlorine anyway. It's a fiberglass hybrid that the fiberglass guy cheaped out on the resin on so the algae has set up in the cross hatching at all different angles where the resin has worn off. We're having such *fun* 🙄😬🤪

Yup. IC40’s and 60’s are completely swappable. My 40 died right before the pandemic turned the manufacturing sector into liquid poo. So I upped my game to an IC60. Glad I did as prices went nuts shortly thereafter.

But SWG’s are so incredibly convenient they are worth every penny. The economics of liquid versus SWG are the same … you’re just buying all your chlorine up front. And even if LC was slightly better on price, the mere fact of having to shop around for it, lug it home and dose manually all the time would be a huge downside.

I got 8 years out of my IC40. 6 isn’t horrible but could be better.

+1. Swapping mine took 10 minutes from picking up the package on the front porch to hooked up and working.

The name brand units are expected to last about 10k hours. With a bigger unit, you run it less and it takes longer to expire. With longer seasons it happens sooner.

I haven't heard of that pool company before. Google maps says their company location is inside an office building with small suites, likely just the business operations of a reseller that never touches the product. I gambled my replacement cell from a similar reseller and won. Up to you if you want to risk it too.

A chunk of the building is a bank of America. Working in similar buildings, suite 210 is on the 2nd floor with at least 10 other small offices. Sometimes a bigger company moves in and knocks down walls to have 6 suites to themselves, but most are usually the size of a big closet. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks! Yeah, for close to a $400 difference I think I'll give it a shot! I'm just glad it's an actual office space and not a UPS mail box 🙃

That was my thought about getting the IC60...our 40 runs at 100% pretty much April thru mid September in combination with our solar which runs about 12 hours a day. Should be able to decrease the amount of time a day by 3-4 hours so it should last a bit longer in theory 🤞

Mine was a PO box at a UPS store. :hammer:

in Denton NV or Dayton or something like that. But it worked, so.
Well it turned out to be a dead end. Signed up for an account per their reqs, put the swcg in my cart, went to check out/get shipping estimate only to get a pop-up saying "An item in your cart can not be shipped to the address listed". Infuriating! Tried a 2nd time just to be sure with same results. I realize companies have to post a prop 65 warning on items being shipped to CA but that shouldn't prevent them from shipping it. Going to contact the co by snail mail and let them know if they're going to be a web based pool supply company that they need to be able to ship to all states or put a disclaimer on their site that indicates which states they will not ship to. Ended up going with a company I've done business with before for a much higher price but at least they have excellent customer service!!

That is likely the thermistor in the flow switch. If you wish, you can replace the flow switch.
We actually have a flow switch we thought we needed at one point and would try that if the diagnostics weren't indicating its life is 100% used up. Thanks for the good advice!

The company I went with sent me a danged "back ordered" notice that I didn't see within the 72 hours they request you cancel the order in and they have zero estimate for when they believe they will get them back in stock. This totally sucks!! I don't understand why these e-tailers list products they don't have in stock (and have backorders for already)! It seems like at very least the quantity drop down when ordering should only allow a zero to be input since they have no actual units in inventory! Not a difficult thing to implement! So now they have $1400 of my money they get to hold on to whether it's for a week or 2 months and I've nothing to show for it except the continued cost of liquid chlorine. Their email states they're confident they will get my item to me as soon as any other retailer would be able to but how can they say that when they can't even give an estimate of how long it will be until they get it?? One would think the common practice would to be to order more units than one currently has backorders for and not on an as ordered basis especially if there's supposedly a nationwide shortage but their email makes it sound like they're handling it as a custom/special order with the manufacturer then adding it to their backorder list. Grrrrrrrrr!!

Polytec Pools in Las Vegas has IC60 in stock. Free shipping, no tax.

See if you can get out of the other order.

Call and cancel. They can’t hold your money. They also can’t charge your any cancellation or restocking fees since there’s nothing being sent to you. A polite phone call will solve it quickly. And, failing that, a polite letter from a lawyer will make them refund you lickity-split.

Here was my saga last year and the only difference this year is it no longer surprises us. I needed a multi faceted attack calling / emailing all over the country and checking local stores in person. Ironically, the IC60 and controller had the most plot twists

It does not look like there is a suite 210.

I would call Bank of America, Capital Web Solutions or Atlantic Physical Therapy and ask them if there is a suite 210 or a company called WaterWorksProducts in the building.
