Ok I did something dumb, which is clear to me now. I had some iron staining on my decking from a sprinkler getting stuck and just dumping well water right onto it. I made a mixture of 2/3 water and 1/3 MA. Took brush and dipped into the bucket then brushed the area lightly and immediately rinsed. Now, the color of my concrete seems to have gone away. I had very limited success with the method in a different, albeit smaller, area of my deck which is why I decided to do this. Obviously won't be doing it anymore but is there anyway for me to retrieve that color and restore it or is it gone? Again I know I'm a moron and my wife will remind me of that frequently so we can skip that part. Thanks for any advice or tips.

It was colored at install. It's an earth tan color (can see color in my pic). The color went to like a grayish color with darker spots. I don't really know what etched looks like compared to not etched

As far as I know the surface doesn't appear damaged. It was textured to have a slate look and it appears that is still fine? Is that what you mean? It's kind of like it just pulled the color out of the concrete but everything else is the same. Sorry I should have taken pictures before I left.

Sounds like you washed out the added color and see the natural concrete grey color.

What can I do to get color back? Anything?

That is where seeing the pics may help.

I would talk to the contractor who installed your deck and find out exactly what coloring was added and how and see if he has any ideas.

Ok. I'll post pics tomorrow and if you guys don't have any ideas then I'll call builder and concrete mixing company on Monday.

Got ahold of builder who did my concrete. His suggestion is to try and reseal it first and see if that brings the color back. If not then he suggests removing that sealer with xylene and then getting a concrete stain and seal again. Color used was taupe. This advice sound legit?

If they installed it, I would hope that they would know what they were doing.

I would trust them more than anyone since this is their product and their business.
Ok I'm going to try it because he even said he'd give some sealer for free which is pretty dang nice of him since it was my fault and not his. Appreciate your input

Was the color added during the concrete mix a additive or from a stain or dye?

Believe it to be an integral color. Guessing the stain would have more of a gloss look to it? I really don't know though for sure. Are you thinking applying a stain would look way off if this was in fact integral coloring?

Don’t know how to fix the current problem, however next time for the ironstaining, try cruising up some vitamin C tablets and dissolving them in a glass of hot water. Pour that on the iron stains. Good luck with the concrete and the wife! Lol!

Sad thing is immediately after this I asked myself why I didn't use vitamin C. I'm really good at learning things the hard way.
