So I had my water all nice and balanced when we had a short stint of "cooler" weather and I decided to cover my pool for three days. I knew that would raise my FC but I didn't realize how much (I'm a rookie after all). In order to bring FC back down I disabled my IC40 from the EasyTouch panel from 7:00AM until 5:00PM yesterday. That was 10 hours out of my pumps 14 hour run time. That oughta do it, right? Nope! I checked FC again this morning and it was the same as yesterday morning. What the heck? Sooooo, I disabled the IC40 again. After thinking about it a bit more I walked over and looked at my cell and sure enough, the "Cell" light was green which means it's producing chlorine. So, I cranked the output down to 0% AND disabled it. Hopefully that will work.

Has anybody else disabled their Pentair SWCG from the EasyTouch panel and still had it produce chlorine??? Is this a bug?

Brian,

Disabling the SWCG on an EasyTouch only makes the EasyTouch not realize that the cell is installed. The cell will continue to work as if it were a standalone unit.

If you need to turn it off, you need to set the output to zero or remove the power from the SWCG's transformer.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim

The more I think about it, the more I realize the term "Enabled" probably is the best choice when you consider the individual components are part of a system. I was considering just the cell and though of it as being enabled or disabled.

Thanks for clarifying it.

How did you 'disable' it?
Hi Marty

I "disabled" it from the EasyTouch panel as shown below but as Jim pointed out, all that did was disconnect the cell from the panel. It was still producing chlorine because I had it set at 26% at that time. I figure another ten years or so of pool ownership and I'll have things figured out!
