Drained and refilled with green city water

I just did my routine drain and refill process (including an Ahhsome treatment before draining), and when I came back to turn off my hose, I noticed the water is pretty green.

I've never had sanitation or algae issues before, and my water looked great before cleaning. Additionally, when I put some water in a bucket direct from my hose, it is also green.

We have been having some issues the past few months with water discoloration off and on.

What should I do now? Drain and refill the whole thing again? Or is it cheaper and/or easier to add a metal remover? If so, what metal remover do you recommend?

I think first it's important to find out why the new fill water is green. It's green right from the fill source correct? It's not just turning green after chlorine is added? Is this happening in the house as well?

The water out of our tap here in West Houston is light green. It is chlorinated with 2 ppm chloramine. Yes, Chloramine! You can see the green in a white bathtub.
When refilling my pool, I "shocked" the pool which killed off the chloramines and it was almost instantly (a couple of hours) clear. The last time I drained and refilled the pool (2020), I added full load of calcium hypochlorite (Shock Level) as I filled and it was not green! You might raise your pool to shock level for a day and see if it is cured.

Yes, I refilled the pool in 2019 and 2020. I tried to go TFP in 2019 and didn't really do it. I went fully TFP in 2020 and have been trouble free since.

Yes, it is green from the source. Happens if I fill a white bucket, fill our tub, etc.

I called the water company because this has been happening on and off in our house as well for a few months now. Ever since the company said they were doing work and our water would be discolored for a day or two, but that was months ago.

The company already seems to be claiming it is just in my head (they said 99% of the time it is an issue with the homeowner not realizing that the color in their walls is affecting the water’s appearance), so we will see what they say when they visit tomorrow. I expect them to try to convince me it is all in my head and to use crappy test strips to ‘prove’ that to me, but I suppose I should have more hope.

Interesting. Thanks. If the water company doesn’t have any answers tomorrow, I’ll try to shock it, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll try the metal remover.

FWIW our community well water has a slight greenish hue to it, but then it goes perfectly crystal clear light blue after I add chlorine and balance it. I thought it was the light of the evergreens reflecting in it, but now I think it’s just the water. We have the water tested by a certified lab every six months per county requirements for our small system, and it always passes. I’ve read the report, but nothing jumps out at me that would cause the slight greenish hue.
