Everbilt 1-1/2hp pump wiring

Hi All,
Just checking my logic here on this excellent site. I just picked up a new Everbilt 1-1/2hp variable speed pool pump from someone locally (not from Home Depot, who I’m told makes these pumps).

I want to confirm that the wiring I plan on doing will be correct. As seen in the pictures below, the label says that the pump is 230 volts. The junction box has a White wire, a Black wire and a ground wire.

The technician on the phone said “yeah, hook up the two hot wires from the wall to the two in the junction box — one supply line to white, the other to black”. He did not sound super confident…

These look so much like wires for 110 volts that I am having some hesitation… does it sound correct to you guys/gals?

Yeah, that pump is clearly labeled as a 230 volt. I understand why the white and black would grab your attention versus two black or perhaps a red & black. But regardless of the wire covering, they serve the same purpose - two hot legs for 230V.

Don't forget to connect the bond wire to that bond lug as well. I don't hear much about that model pump, so let us know how well it works for you over time.

You don’t connect the electrical ground wire to the outside bonding lug.

Electrical ground connects to the green wire.

#8 copper bonding wire connects to the bonding lug.

You don’t connect the electrical ground wire to the outside bonding lug.

That's not what I meant, but I get the need to clarify. Bond wire of course. I edited my comment above to be clear.

Hi Texas, All,

Sorry to not circle back with a response. Shortly after posting this, I got pulled away from all things pool-related to focus on helping my Mother-in-Law recover after a heath scare.

It has been a long road, and I am now just getting back to swapping this pump and filter in the hopes of opening the pool by June…
