Hi all,

I have a 24’ AGP. I’ve noticed since winter my liner is “puffed out” in one area of my pool, maybe like 30 degrees of the way around.

The condition seems fine. The water still seems level. No leaks. Walls appear straight.

Any idea what may have caused this and/or the best way to correct? Is it as simple as pulling the top rails one section at a time and trying to pull it taught, or would that do more harm than good?

The best I can tell, I believe it’s a universal/j-hook liner.

Appreciate any ideas you might have.

The liner looks like it is seated properly on the wall. It looks like some air is trapped behind the liner. I wouldn't touch anything if it was my pool. Let it ride for a bit and see if the air works it's way out. As the liner warms up it should stretch and move and that "bubble" should work itself out.
Thanks. I'll leave it be an re-evaluate when it's actually warm enough to get in the water.

Magiteck, I noticed a similar thing happen with my liner maybe 5 years after install? Nothing apparently wrong it was just looser in some spots that first 6 inches below the railing, but no idea as to the cause.

Agree with Teald to let it be for now, maybe it works itself out when temps warm. That was not the case with mine, that looseness stayed in some spots, so I just lifted the top rail and pulled the liner tighter, but I had an overlap. Not sure you can do what I did and use your j hook more like an overlap liner.... something to try in summer maybe.

We have the same liner and opened up our pool this year (for the first time) to this same issue! So Weird!
Very strange indeed. Now that my pool has warmed up, the “puffing” subsided. But the liner is now over-stretched in that area so it’s loose/floppy above the water line.

Really it’s just cosmetic and not hurting anything, but it still bothers me. Haven’t decided if I want to try to remove the top rail and see if I can pull it more taught. I’m not sure how well it would work with the j-hook top.
