I've been working on getting everything together and ready so I can switch over to SWG.
1) I installed the two Circupool RJ 60 plus units. One on each of the two filter VS Pentair filter pumps. I wired them to the load side of each of pumps on the IntelliCenter, so they wouldn't run if the pumps weren't running. I also plumbed in the Circupool inline switches. The SWG should be ready to go now.
2) I SLAMed the pool because we had some heavy rain (thank God) and I was starting to see algae. After three days, based on the SLAM procedure things should be ok now. While SLAMing I started to add salt over the last 3 days, since I read here that was ok to do.
Here's where things were this morning.
Pool water temp 77 to 80 each day.
pH 8.4 [per Pool Calculator I added 4 gallons of MA (15.7%)]
FC 14
CC 0
CH 240
TA 200
CYA 40
CSI 0.89 (Pool Calculator says that's too high, but hopefully my adjustments will bring that into line.)
My salt level was at 2900, so again from the Pool Calculator I added another 11-#40 bags of salt to reach 3500 ppm.
At this point I intend to wait 24 hours and then turn on the SWGs to 50% (?) and then start to monitor chlorine levels. I was also going to add 8 pounds of stabilizer to start trying to raise the CYA it to 60 or 70. Pool Calculator calls for 15 pounds to get to 60, so I was going to add it in separate doses a few days apart since it takes so long to dissolve (using the sock as suggested on here).
Am I headed in the right direction or are there things I need to reconsider/change?
My fill water coming from a well in limestone country tests at 240 TA, so I guess I'll always need to add MA. I don't have any idea how much that will be at this point, but since start up in the last few months, I've already added at least 30 gallons. So, I would like to figure out a way to get this to dose automatically. Flying Tivo recommended a Stenner setup, so I've been reading the forum and trying to figure out the details. I would like it automated as much as possible. From my reading I see Pentair sells the IntellipH system, but since my SWG cells aren't compatible with the Pentair system, I'm not sure that would work. I think with the size of the pool (90,000 gal) I would be best with a 30 gallon tank like Stenner makes. Is there a simple (or somewhat simple) method to hook that up? Stenner pump and tank? Or does anyone have a better suggestion?
Also, I want to thank everyone for all the help, guidance and sharing everyone gives on this forum. I've had three pools in the past and swore I would never have another one. They were a constant PITA and trying to get a pool service to handle things was always a complete nightmare....constant algae, shocking, chemicals, etc., etc. Only after I found TFP did I think having a pool shouldn't have to be such a never-ending pain. Thank you for all your help.
