So new pool owner. I’ve got Jandy equipment. The pump is a VS Flopro ( I believe, I’m not home) 1.65. It’s set to run right now at 1750rpm. My question is every time it turns on it runs through its “priming” cycle for 3 min or so then slows down and runs normally, the pump basket is always full of water when this happens. Is this correct operation? Couldn’t find it in the manual.

Also my Jandy sand filter pressure gauge always reads zero. The water flow is fine, you can see it flowing in the pump, SWG and returns jets are fine. Could it be a bad gauge? The manual says it’s a “self-bleeding” filter, no air bleed.

Thanks!

That is normal for starting up the pump. The pump does not know if water is in the basket. It always goes through the prime cycle on startup. Some pumps can adjust the prime cycle time.

Could be a bad gauge.

Remove the gauge and check there is nothing blocking the gauge orifice. Sometimes removing the gauge, cleaning the orifice, and reinstalling it will get it working.

perfect thanks! Also I cranked the pump up and it jumped to about 16PSI. Lowered it and it went down. So I'm assuming all is well. Then I saw the PVC coupling coming out of the pump to the filter is seeping water. Only at the high speed though. Called the PB waiting to hear back.
