Upgrading existing system to pvc plumbing

in process of replacing the hose lines with rigid pvc. I already have pvc running from the filter to my pump and would like to put it at the rest. As you can see I also have a salt cell. Was considering using the single union ball valves instead. It says they are easier to use. I’ve read running a longer line coming out of the pump is best. Thinking of moving pump and filter over to align with skimmer basket. I see people putting their valves closest to the pool and others like me closest to the equipment. Also I want to add sacrificial anode as well for salt cell. I don’t know where to begin. And best way for performance to set up the lines. Are there any videos or pictures even that would be helpful. Do I need check valves for my set up? Where to begin.

I prefer diverter valves but ball valves may be ok in your situation. Ball valves will not last as long or be rebuildable. Depends on the timeframe you want things to last.

I’ve read running a longer line coming out of the pump is best.

Compared to what other way?

Thinking of moving pump and filter over to align with skimmer basket.

Whatever is easiest for you. A bit of pipe to the skimmer is not going to make any difference.

Welcome to TFP.

I see people putting their valves closest to the pool and others like me closest to the equipment.

Whatever is easiest for you, Makes no difference.

Also I want to add sacrificial anode as well for salt cell.

Waste of money but if it makes you feel better.

I don’t know where to begin. And best way for performance to set up the lines.

What model pump and filter do you have?

I doubt anything you will do will greatly impact "performance".

Performance of what?

Do I need check valves for my set up?

If you have valves to close when you are working on equipment I don;t see why you need CVs also.
