New Gunite Pool 1st water test.

While we are waiting for our K-2006 to come in, wife took a sample to Leslie’s. She was told 1 gal muriatic acid, 32lbs calcium hardener and 1lb of shock. It is 3 days post fill. I have read hear that it is ok to wait on calcium hardness for a few more days as it should rise a bit more being fresh plaster. Is that true? Also if the 1 gal of acid is necessary can it be poured in at once(diluted of course) as she was instructed or does it need to be broken down into 2 doses? It’s says to wait 4 hours after final dose to add the calcium hardener(if actually needed this early) and in 2 16lb doses four hours apart. Then finally wait for hours and add the 1 lb granular shock. Any advise is appreciated.

Pool was plastered Monday. Water was filled Tuesday evening. Builder put 6 tabs in the nature 2 and turned it to 6. Haven’t seen or heard from him since. Water was filled with city water. No chems other than the chlorine tabs he added.

Note it says nothing about using tablets or a Nature2.

When do you think you will get your K-2006? If not tomorrow go to Walmart or any store that ahs poo0l supplies and get a basic test kit that can test chlorinate and pH that you can use until you get the K-2006.

You want to keep your FC around 3 and your pH in the 7's.

Use 10% - 12% liquid chlorine aka pool shock.

Use 31%- 20 baume muriatic acid to adjust the pH.

Download PoolMath and it will help you calculate your chemical doses. Log your tests in PoolMath.

32 oz of 31% MA will lower your pH by 0.3. That is 1/4 gallon. Easy to measure or eyeball the pour. Never reduce your pH by more then 0.3 without testing again. Do as many cycles as necessary about 30 minutes apart with the pump running to get your pH into the 7's.

The startup guide says After the 4th Day - low calcium levels should be adjusted slowly over the 28 day period not to exceed 200 ppm.

And it says After the 4th Day - adjust cyanuric acid levels to 30 to 50 ppm1 based on the primary sanitizer of the pool. But do not add it to the skimmer, use the sock method putting the CYA in an old sock and dangling it in the pool. More details to come on that.

For chemicals now you need a few jugs of liquid chlorine and a few gallons of muriatic acid plus 8 pounds of dry stabilizer.

Don't deal with adding calcium until you have your K-2006. And don;t worry about your TA until you have your K-2006.

Now on your Fusion you can let the tablets dissolve but don't add any. And we can talk about the fusion mineral cartridge that we don't recommend using as its minerals will eventually lead to staining your pool and turning blonde hair green.
