Anyone know of a auto fill valve that fills the water higher than the activation level? I read somewhere on the forum that there may be one that fills the water 1/2” higher than the level it will open up at again once the level is reduced, but couldn’t find more on it.

My autofill is a small stream that causes my RPZ to hum or chatter with the low flow. It’s quiet when there’s a good flow so if I could avoid the low flow it would be great.

Thanks

Loosen the wing nut, adjust float to desired water level, and tighten it.
I do not think that will affect the low flow and address the issue, unless I am not understanding the impact of changing the fill level.
When it gets to a fraction of a millimeter right at the shut off level, there is very little flow as the valve is barely open. This cause the RPZ check valve to Barry be open as well and chatter or hum.

I find needing the opposite, and would like to have it just slow fill without cycling so much. I need to get back the project of restricting my water flow to it. Get the same net result, but man that poor float having to work thousands of times for single fill up! Yours is probably set up right, it just naturally buzzes the valve as it reaches final closing.

do you have an additional valve for the auto fill? I would try closing it or opening it more to see if that reduces the sound of the hammer vibrating in the RPZ valve.

I think you can swap out the float if that would help it but unsure. You can also place a resistor in the line in mine. I think you unscrew the float and can place a reducing fitting type insert into the plug that should slow the flow. Might be worth trying.

The RPZ is a double check valve. I could try playing with them. It’s only noticeable at night when it’s quiet so I can tinker then.
Thanks for the feedback.

Yep, that's my next project to play with, eventually. As for night sounds, first and foremost for me, since the wind has shifted direction here I have the weir door faintly banging.

If or when you can raise the water level, that might stop the door from banging. Having more water resistance.
