Omnilogic Firmware 4.3

It looks like Hayward is not releasing release notes - I have an email into them. It looks like my DST corrected itself after I installed 4.3, but I won't really know until next spring.

Omnilogic Firmware 4.3.0 is now available for OTA download and install for the Omnilogic. So far no release Notes published on Hayward’s sight. I’m sure they will be posted within the next few days which seems to be the normal process. I updated this morning without issue. Would expect since the version has jumped a few minor releases(from 4.1.1 to 4.3) hopefully there are some new capabilities. I’m going to continue to review the menu‘s at the panel to see if I can see anything new.

Funny, didn’t see thisthread and created another about it. Mods, feel free to delete if needed.

@PoolBrews You mention the DST corrected itself. How were you able to come to this conclusion? Did you re-enable DST option in time Settings?

Just saw the update alert, and updated the system. I'm always looking for release notes, before installing, but anytime there is a release shortly after another one I've found it's for an urgent or annoying issue(s).
MSP release R.4.3.1-b37370

Release notes not found yet.

I updated to 4.3.1 yesterday. When I restarted the OmniLogic, my pump did not turn on per the schedule, and I could not manually turn it on.

I rebooted the Omni a 2nd time, and everything came up fine.

The reply I received from support was that the engineers were working on getting the release notes up for 4.3... to which I replied "Where are the release notes for the last 3 updates over the past 6 months?" No reply to that yet.

This is unheard of in the IT community. They expect us to blindly install a new update without telling us what's in it, what it will fix, and what the known issues are.

Hayward thinks they are a pool equipment company.

You think they are an IT company.

When I’ve asked for them directly I’ve gotten them sent to me no problem. They write them, just don’t always publish. I work with all sorts of companies like this - not traditionally a software company but forced to be in this day in age. Probably more of a lack of process and/or hiring outside firms to do software development that’s not well integrated with rest of company. Doesn’t make it wrong or right, but I see it happen all the time.

I forgot about this thread when I started a new thread about this specifically (mods feel free to merge the two), but it appears one of the new features in 4.3.0 is the ability to use heaters with both heat and cool modes. If you go into the configuration menu and configure a heater, you'll see that there are now chiller options. I'm interested to know how you're expected to wire this...

Hayward either has an IT department, or they have a company they pay to do it. Software and firmware does not write itself. I was only alluding to the standards that would normally be followed by anyone who is actually responsible for the code.

Release notes for v4.3.0 are now posted; only major version listed, even though v4.3.1 was pushed a few days later.

Release Notes for Firmware Revision R4.3.0 MSP/WDT/WLT/EPG November 18th, 2021
Features and Enhancements
Omni now has the ability to configure Automatic mode in heaters that support both heat and cool and attempts to maintain the temperature to a certain temperature. It can be configured as a dedicated chiller as well. Also in this release is the addition of Schedules and Themes with cooling mode and Automatic Daylight SavingsTime, which automatically adjusts time on the Omni in the spring and fall.

● Auto Mode switched ON
● The system will automatically switch between heating and cooling when the filter is on
and the set point has not been reached and the water is above or below the set point by
at least the amount of the configured Initial Temperature Differential.
● Once the water temperature is brought to be equal to the set point, nothing will run until the water temperature reaches (set point minus the configured temperature differential)
or (set point plus the configured temperature differential).

● Auto Mode with Solar
● This type of operation is not possible. Therefore, the solar set point is disabled by being set equal to the main set point and the operation is the same as normal Auto Mode.

● Schedules in Heat/Cool/Auto Modes
● The user will be able to set up schedules for the temperature control to run at a specific temperature in one of the three modes (Heat, Cool, Auto).

● Heating and Cooling in Themes
● Both heating and cooling devices will be included within themes

● Auto Daylight Savings Time ON
● “Automatically get date and time from the internet” must be set to ON. The system will then get the time from the internet.

● Auto Daylight Savings Time OFF
● The time will not be adjusted automatically and must be done manually.

● Controlling Auto mode for Heat/cool via the OmniLogic app will require an app upgrade once
that feature is released. (Version to be released soon)

I'm with you on this. When companies decide to start making and selling software driven hardware, they need work out a way to manage it. I'm getting really tired of firmware updates from Hayward that then break things. No release notes. Poor support. An attitude of best efforts; at best. OmniLogic owners have paid a premium to supposedly have a trouble free pool. Excuse the pun. That's what the brochure sold me. Release notes and some proper change control would be a nice. Complete release notes and without the undocumented "features". A simple way to back out changes/firmware updates would be nice, especially now that we're doing Over The Air updates. Reading the thread above, I see mention of DST fix. What it's done for mine (non DST area) is that it set all my schedules out by an hour. A closer look at the Omnilogic day/time settings uncovered that the firmware update changed my actual timezone altogether. Solution has been to not set time automatically via internet, as a work-around, with silence from tech support on whether a fix is coming. Additionally I have a persistent "Error Provisioning invalid password" error that is waiting on tech support since 21-Nov. Is anyone else seeing that error? Also, I haven't had v4.3.1 pushed to me. How can I get this over the air or even for download? Thanks
