Compool LX3800 to Easytouch Upgrade - 521107 and Easytouch Indoor Control Panel 520549 w/RJ12 Adapter

I am about to install the Pentair 521107 Easytouch upgrade for my current Compool LX3800 system. I was wondering if any of the experts or those experienced with this upgrade have come into this.

• Sigle Body System:
  • First of all, when I reviewed the installation instructions, the first thing I see is that it talks about the "Single Body Sytem". I'm assuming I leave it as is from the factory given that I have both a Pool and Spa and therefore have what I would consider a "Dual Body System".

• RJ12 Cable and Port
  • My current Compool system has the old CP3800 Indoor Control Panel which is connected to my LX3800 utilizing an RJ12 Cable.
  • Reviewing the installation instructions, I see that the new Easytouch system has two connection points for a control panel, the "J20" connection point and the COM connecting point.
  • The kit also comes with an RJ12 adapter.
  • Now I'm wondering if I should be utilizing the RJ12 adapter connected the the "J20" connection point to my origianl RJ12 cable, which would then run into the house and then connect that to the 520549 Control Panel.
    • Note that the 520549 Control panel only has the ability to connect with invididual wires which my next assumition would be that I would have to cut the RJ12 connector off the end and then utilize those wires.
      
• Intelliflo VS Pump
  • I have also upgraded to an intelliglo VS Pump for my main filtering pump, I understand that for this pump, it will be wired directly to the breaker, however, for the control wire, 350122, where on the easytouch upgrade board do the wires go?
• Superflo VS Pump
  • I decided to go all out and also upgrade my waterfall pump to the Penatir Superflo pump. From what I have seen, for this pump, I wire it once again directly to the breaker, but then the control wires will get wired to relays, I'm fairly confident in this scheme, just figured since I was asking multiple questions I would throw this one in there.

Anything else I may be missing?

A pool and spa with a spillover is a “single body” of water. You have one pump, filter and heater for pool and spa.

A dual body system has separate pumps, filters, and heaters for the pool and spa.

The IntelliFlo data cable connects to the ET COM port J20. You can connect two wires to the COM port. After that you should use the COM port expansion board.

You can connect a hundred devices to the same com port. The only issue is with the wires all fitting into the same connector.. You can buy the expansion board, or you can simple wire-nut all the wires together and then use jumpers to connect the wire-nuts to J20.

Your IntelliFlo for sure is controlled by the RS-485 com port.. If the SuperFlo VS is new, then it also can be controlled by the same RS-485 com port. The good news is that the IntelliFlo comes with a com cable, the bad news is that the SuperFlo VS does not.

Hey Jim,

So, my Intelliflo is the Pentair 011018 IntelliFlo, my Superflo is the Pentair SuperFlo VS Variable Speed Pool Pump, 342001. I have the Pentair 350122 communication cable for the Intelliflo and the Pentair 356324Z SuperFlo VS 24V Communication Cable for the Superflo.

Are you saying that I can connect, both the 350122 cable and the 356324Z Superflo cable as well as the cable to my 520549 Indoor Control Panel (let's just say I cut both the ends off of my current RJ12 cable going into my old indoor controller and use that as the cable to connect it) Wire nut the appropriate colors together (Red to Red to Red with a Red jumper to the J20, etc, etc) and all that will allow my Intelliflo, my Superflo, and my Indoor Control Panel to properly communicate with the Easytouch?

If so, that is awesome and crazy easy.

Tell me the mfg date on the SuperFlo VS.. If it was made in 2021, then it should talk RS-485.. Does your SuperFlo label say VS or VST???

The SuperFlo has two different cables. The black one, P/N 35624Z, can be used for RS-485 control.. Assuming the pump has RS-485 inputs. You only use the Green and Yellow wires.

Here is the problem.. The manual says that the VST model has RS-485. It leads you to believe that any SuperFlo VS or VST manufactured in 2021 has the RS-485, but I am not absolutely sure.

Assuming it does have RS-485, then connecting the IntelliFlo, the SuperFlo VST and your inside control panel all to J20 is perfectly fine.

If your SuperFlo's label says "VS" and not VST, then I'd want Pentair to confirm if the SuperFlo VS has RS-485 or not before I connected it up.

It definitely has the RS-485 connection, however, it was manufactured in 2018

Figured out the Superflo, it will have to be connected to the relay's. That's no bigie. So the waterfall pump will be connected to relays, the Intelliflo and the indoor controller to the J20 port and I should be good to go.
