The insert that the cartridge goes over has an arrow which says to point towards inflow. I have a Pentair system, single cartridge. However, my insert won’t seat in that direction. I can’t think of any reason this should matter, but obviously it is there for a reason. An anyone help me out with this? Does this matter?

Hey Krista !!! Got pics ? Does the whole filter fit on the housing, or does just a part of the filter attach like this one ?

There is an air socket relief tube that runs down the center core and faces the inlet. It should only be able to sit this directions based on its design and the tabs at the bottom. There should be labels on the outside of the tank that say “inlet” and “outlet” it should be facing the inlet side. It’s a way the filter can release air through the whole unit. As far as the cartridge it has a label for top and bottom.

I have a C&C RP. It will only seat in the correct position. You must have it right, even if the arrow looks confusing. Without taking mine apart right now, I can't remember where the arrow aligns... The inlet port is not dead center on the filter housing. The alignment of the inlet "pipe" is on the tangent. Wish I could remember, but I think it points to the direction the pipe is coming from, and not right at the inlet opening on the inside of the filter housing. If it points to either of these, and that is the only way it seats.... You are good.
