Help me - uuugh GREEN water, no idea what else to do

Looks great! When is that kit coming? Depending how many tabs you've used, it many not provide enough chlorine quick enough to block algae. I think each 3" tab adds like 5 or 6 PPM over several days and in your climate you could be burning 3-4 PPM each day. Just a word of caution! it might be fine but I'd hate to see that beautiful start an algae bloom 😥

A lot of people think tabs are a great way to chlorinate their pool but they fail to realize that it slowly releases chlorine and wont satisfy the chlorine demand a pool uses daily and it builds up CYA in the pool. If you can find liquid chlorine, get some and add a half gallon a day until you get your test kit.

I will def add some liquid chlorine until then. I have some at home! thanks:)

I have been putting like (4) 3 inch tabs in my floater since I filled it and as soon as it dispenses / disintegrates, I have been adding as much as I could fit back in so it was not ever empty. I would hate to see an algae bloom also, I might just set it on fire, LOL JP

I'd be concerned about your CYA levels getting out of control. The only way to bring that down is a partial drain/refill. Be careful adding to many. Those tabs are acidic and can drop your pH too.

Thanks! I will see what the delivery date is for the kit and update once I have that. I did stop and purchase some more liquid chlorine and will just watch it closely and pray until then!

Not received yet but it was total operator error. (MY error) I had to close my last debit card per I lost it but I didn’t update it on my prime account so it wouldn’t approve it. Smh I really should read the emails that come in…….

The TF-100 test kit isn't available on Amazon......? Its only available at www.tftestkits.net

I got my tf 100 in and I just tested my water. I’m a little confused with how to figure out what to add, but I’m sure I will get it soon. I had a really green pool, I drained it and started fresh.
Here are my results:
FC. 5
CC. 2
TC. 7
calcium hardness. 225 ppm
Total alkalinity. 190
CYA. 27
PH. 7.7
I know I need to lower my TA by reducing the PH AND that I need to increase my CYA. Not sure how to do about doing that?

Good job! So now there are a couple things we look at since you had algae, drained, and refilled:
- Your CC (combined chlorine) level is elevated at 2.0
- You had algae and may still have some in areas you could not clean
- Round the CYA up to 30
- The TA is fine for now
- CH is fine (N/A actually for vinyl)

It would be best to do the following:
1 - Lower pH to 7.2 with muriatic acid
2 - Increase teh FC to 12 with liquid chlorine for a SLAM Process.

Now since you did most of the work already, we just need that elevated chlorine to work its way through the places you couldn't reach. Then perform an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. Once the CC number goes down to 0.5 or less (zero), the water remains crystal clear, and you pass the OCLT, then you are done with the SLAM. But do that first to ensure all algae is eliminated. We'll cover minor things like TA later.

This is what liquid chlorine I have. I want to add it to my pool calculator accurately- but I can’t figure out which to call it? Bleach?
