New Pool in Houston, TX - Completed August 2021

PB came by and said the wires were okay and low voltage.

Question about pool equipment. The PB knew I was upset about the equipment not being placed where I wanted it, and in showing he really cares and wants to get it fixed, he also mentioned that the equipment is too far apart and that it also needs to be corrected. Is there any benefits of having the equipment closer together?

Do you guys think the equipment is spaced out too much? I'm concerned if they try to move it around now, it'll mess up the plumbing and cause issues in the future? Should I allow them to replace all the equipment or is there any risk associated with moving it closer? I thought it's best to NOT have it crammed.

@Jimrahbe @Texas Splash @bdavis466 @ajw22 @Newdude

You guys seem to know a lot. My PB is going into a meeting later this morning and I'd like to stop him from setting up the plumbers to come back out to move the equipment if you guys say it looks okay. Space in my side yard is not an issue.

Tile and coping done. We're happy with how everything turned out. We wanted natural rocks incorporated in the freeform design but wanted more gray/brown tones instead of the moss rock brown/green, so these Zion boulders worked out very nice with the color pallette.

Excuse all the rain water in the pool...it's been absolutely ridiculous with the amount of rain we've gotten since the beginning of construction. On the bright side, pool is larger than originally designed! 😃 😎

I didn't see anyone else say anything but you may verify that the black elbows that they used on your plumbing at the equipment are in fact, schedule 40 fittings. They look like ABS DWV (drain, waste, vent) fittings to me.

Thanks, I'll check with the PB. What is the implications of ABS DWV fittings?

I think the black sweeps look ok with deep sockets.

Schedule 40 fittings have deeper sockets then DWV fittings and are certified for pressure applications. DWV are more prone to leakage in pressure applications. On the equipment pad leaks can be fixed easily. If DWV fittings are used underground and leak they can become a big problem.

Guys, need a little help, especially from @TexasTomKat and @kimkats (for your tile speciality please),

My spa glass tile turned out exactly how we wanted, except were unsure about the grout right on top of the spillway. My friends pool spa is a square so straight lines on the spillway, but his grout line on top of the spillway is much less, about as little as the grout between the 1x1 tiles themselves.

@TexasTomKat - Can you share a close up of your spillway top grout and what width do you think it is? Mine seems to be about 1/3 - 1/2 inch, maybe 1 CM to be more precise.

My PB said he can put in a work order to demo the spillway tile and redo it to have less grout, but I'm not sure if it's something they can actually do on a rounded spillway, compared to the straight line spillway my friend has. What do you guys think...should I have them break off the glass tiles on the spillway or just have them smooth/sand out the grout on top?

The reason my grout looks messy is because the day they finished it, it was going to rain hard, so they put a plastic sheet on top, which of course smeared the grout flat and around, causing it to dry looking messy.

The image with the red arrow is my spillway grout. I'm attaching my friend's spillway image here too.

Thanks for all the help!
