TF Test results

hi,

so below is what I got from tf-100 test. My water has turned little green now. Not sure what’s going on . Can some tell me what should I do next. I have swg aqua rite t-15. Sand filter and Hayward super 2 1hp pump. May be I just need to run my pump longer? I run it for 8 hrs right now. Salt level on aqua rite is 3000

FC=3
CYA =35
PH=7.5
TA=280
CH=22

If you are seeing algae time to follow the SLAM Process
Lower your pH to 7.2 . Add liquid chlorine to get to 16 ppm FC. Maintain 16 ppm FC by testing and adding chlorine every few hours until you pass the three criteria shown in the SLAM article.

I think FC 3 is what’s going on.

So what do I do about it? Run my swg for long?
At CYA 30 you should be targeting FC 4-6 and ideally the high end of that. Add liquid chlorine to get there and adjust the SWG, either % or runtime to hold it there.
The CYA for a salt pool should be 70-80 actually with a FC target of 6 but only after you pass the SLAM criteria.

Thanks everyone so I have started the SLAM process and using liquid chlorine to bring up my FC level and adjust for the loss accordingly. How long will this take? My CC is at 0 so I am waiting for water to clear up and over night chlorine loss test to be negative.

It takes what it takes. Your water being clear will mean it should take much less time. Strict adherence to the process will also speed things up. Test often, adjust often and you will be good shape.

Also brush often and check for algae hiding places.

Thanks. I was just looking for an average time more so to ensure things are progressing. Would a week be reasonable time for a 16 gallon of pool? My water is (lightish) green right now.

There really are no averages, but a week might do it. Post pictures so we can follow your progress and offer additional advice.

The first couple of days are the most important for speed, the more you test and dose the faster things will go. Keeping your FC at SLAM level is the key.

Thanks. For the Chlorine test. Do I need to add the R-0870 powder every time I do the test? Considering I am going to be doing frequent tests I am wondering if I can just put the R-0871 instead?

how do I know if my water is clear enough?
Gin clear. Being able to easily tell heads/tails on a quarter tossed in the deep end. No visible algae, dead or alive. Absolutely zero cloudiness.

See this post....
