Neighbors pool numbers

I’m watching the neighbors house and dog for a week and thought I’d test their pool chemistry just to see where it is. It’s an older pool non-SWCG pool and they use a pool service to maintain it. I’ve been taking care of our own SWCG pool for about a year and half and so far so good. Anyways their numbers were as follows
FC 1.5
PH 7.5
Alk 140
CH 550 (not too surprised since we have hard water here
CYA >100

I notice they also have one of those puck dispensers floating in the pool so I’m guessing that is what the pool service is using and I guess why the CYA is so high.
So ALk is way high and so is the cya. FC is low.
Should I mention this to them?

You can try, but it may fall on deaf ears unless they are willing to take charge of their water for good. Weekly services are just dump & run. I wouldn't worry at all about the TA. But they definitely need a good dose of chlorine.

Go out back and tell the brick wall. It will probably be more receptive. You’ll get the same blank stare either way. 🤣

Serioulsy tho, it’s hard enough to teach somebody who has had enough as they keep wanting to revert to all those magic pills that caused them grief in the first place. A cold sell without them looking for help is even harder.

You can tell them, but unless they are having problems then they have no reason to believe you're correct and their pool manager is wrong.

You might consider just planting a seed, "I noticed your water looked a bit dull so I tested it and found a couple things off. You might want to ask your pool person about it." If they ask what just say that their stabilizer is a bit high and you wouldn't be surprised if the service wants you to drain some water soon. That way if they inquire about it you've picked something the service guy might agree with and that will garner you some credibility. Maybe they won't think more of it, or maybe they will see that you saw an issue before the service people did and wonder what else they don't know. Either way, leave the next step for them to make.

And I'd stay out of that pool. Ick.

We’re on good terms with them so I may give it a go. After that it’s up to them
Make sure you wait until they give you a thank you gift for watching the dog, home, and pool before brining it up. Ha. :)
