In Ground Pool in New England: Plaster today!!!

Pavers were completed today with a little space around the perimeter for the fence to go in. They have to wait for it to dry before doing the grout.

I have a question about filling the pool. I am having water tanked in because I have a well (that I almost ran dry during the gunite phase). I've frequently seen recs on this site for wrapping a rag around the hose when filling the pool from a house spigot. Does the same apply with the water tank? Do I presume the water company will know that (I'm guessing no) but hope the pool company would. Thanks!!!
When ours was filled from the truck, they had it go through a 4” PVC pipe. They had sandbags over the pipe to keep it steady.

Moving right along! The waterline tile was done yesterday and the fence was started. I'm sad to see the fence go up; I feel like the poor pool is now in a cage. The fence will be at the edge of the paved area, separate from the rest of the property. Not as nice as if it were integrated with the deck, but that would have been quite a bit more money and would have giving me more to worry about with kid safety. I think the fence will be finished in another day. Then it's just the plaster/pebble and equipment install!

Just over here thinking about the 90 degree weather we will be getting this weekend and my unfinished pool. Seems like the builder is stalling. He said many of the pebble finishes are backordered but is being cagey on when the plaster/pebble might me done. Fence was completed a week ago. Supposedly the equipment will be installed this week. It is about a year since I first met with this builder. I know I have nothing to complain about since I will be swimming at some point this summer but I am ready!

It's been about two weeks since anything was done on my build (fence). PB says equipment is being installed this week. Pebble is not going in until June 16th though! I was hoping it would be this month. PB says there are delays due to covid, and visas, and materials... etc... I know I shouldn't complain but it was about a year ago that I signed the contract. Now that the weather is warming up, Im excited and want it to be done. We had beautiful weather this past weekend and I brought my daughers to the beach. They were swimming and boogie boarding- the water was less than 60! They are going to love the pool

Thankful for TFP for frequent posters saying to check everything the PBs do. My equipment was installed today when I was at work. They installed the whisper Flo 1.5 HP pump, which had been in my original quote, but not Intelliflo VS 3HP pump I upgraded to. I have a signed addendum for the upgrade (which I paid 1k for over the other pump) so I am sure it will be switched out. Just hope they have my pump and this doesn't delay things further. I'm not sure I would have been paying that close attention without this site. I would have just trusted it was done right (actually I never would have thought to get a VSP). Thanks everyone!

The PB switched out the whisperflo 1.5, he said he knew they put in the wrong one, not sure why he didn't give me the heads up. Anyway, I see the one they switched it to is a whisperflo 3HP VSP. I had signed an addendum that I'd get the Intelliflo 3HP VSP. Does anyone know if this matters? Is one better than the other?

Also, I'm getting plaster/pebble tomorrow! Now I'm freaking out, trying to figure out what I do after that. Hoping my PB gives me some clear directions otherwise I know where to research. Electrician came by today to install the light, but the PB didn't leave it... He said he can do part of it today, and the rest after the acid wash. I think by this weekend I will have water. I have to pull my test kit out of the closet and start practicing. Realistically, how soon might we be able to swim?

I should not have been so hopeful in my last post. Immediately after I sent it, I checked my email and the PB wrote to say pebble got delayed until June 22..... booooo.

Newdude, do you have any thoughts on the pump situation? I was paid to upgrade to the intelliflo 3HP VSP but I see they gave me a whisperflo 3HP VS. Is this the same thing? Thanks for your thoughts!

B.Lu.

Have you actually seen the pump? Please show us some pics? If at all possible tell us the P/N.. It will something like 011028 or similar number.

I have never heard of the WhisperFlo VS.. I believe that the IntelliFlo has a WhisperFlo "wet" end, but with a VS motor and controller.

Are you going to have an automation system?

I'll keep looking..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I ALWAYS have thoughts. Lol. I’m not sure how much the equipment shortages played with the selection. @Jimrahbe can explain the differences.

I am not doing automation. My addended contract says Intelliflo 3HP.

But this pump says: "Pentair Whisperflo High Performance Pump" 075918.E. When I asked the PB, he said 'yeah, that's the VSP' I'm having trouble getting pics to send to my email from my android. I'll keep trying to add to this post but here's some info.

1 sticker says:
P/N 011528 PMP WFET 6 208-230V
S/N 0326026210316V
Date 01/26/2021
26985394

2nd sticker says:
Pentair 3.0HP/3.95 SFHP
P/N 356928.C
bunch of other technical info like KW, Max amp...

3rd sticker
D/N 176L8122
357526D24720SK0191968U
E337256

Keypad topcover sticker
P/N357526
S/N 03982692005369
I'm trying to get pictures to send from my phone to email. I'll post once it goes through. In the meantime, the labels said P/N 011528

B.Lu,

I can't find the P/N 011528, but I assume Pentair has changed some P/N's to keep up with the DOE requirements for more efficient pumps..

I can tell from looking that the pump you have is an IntelliFlo "style" pump, but can't tell if it is just a VS or just a VF or is both a VSF pump. Or something newer..

Did they leave you with the manual for that specific pump?

Let's see what @JamesW has to say..

At this point I would not be too worried about it. On the surface it looks good to me.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Pentair Europe. Re-badged. No part number I can find as Jim states.

This is the description of the WFET-6, P/N 011528, which looks like the below picture.

So, it looks like the pump is made from different parts for some reason.

Probably need to find out why it is made from different parts and not a new original pump.

Pentair - WhisperFlo 1.5 HP TEFC Super-Duty Single Speed Pump 208-230V WFET-6 - 011528

WhisperFlo TEFC 011528.jpg

For you to get the full warranty for your equipment, you need to register it with Pentair within 60 days of purchase/installation.

The pump is not a new original pump and that will probably void the warranty.

The pump model number and serial number are not Intelliflo and it will definitely cause you problems.

Get a new, original Intelliflo pump.

IG Gunite 15x30ft installation in progress. 20k gal. Intelliflo VS 3HP. Pebblesheen blue granite. Techo bloc blu60 greyed nickel. Jandy Aquapure 1400 SWG. Polaris 280. Pentair 400 BTU master temp propane heater. New England. TF-Pro *Salt. Pentair cartridge filter

You need to get automation to control everything.

Get the Intellicenter, get the IC40 SWG instead of the AquaPure 1400 and get a robot instead of the Polaris 280.

Get a CCP420 "Clean and Clear Plus" 420 sq ft cartridge filter.

Wow! Thanks so much guys for looking into this for me! I am sending a message out to the PB now to figure out what's going on. My biggest irritation is that I paid 1k for an upgrade to intelliflo, wasn't given it, but wasn't even told it was something different. I would have been very open to a conversation about equipment shortages, etc... and what my options were. Perhaps I would have saved the 1k and stuck with the 1.5 HP whisperflo. I have to take some time to look at all of the posts added to this thread to figure out what is what. It definitely looks like the whipped something together.

Question about the intelliflo- If I can get a real one, is it okay if I just used the panel to make a program? I won't be getting automation anytime soon. My build is a super close to being done and I can't make any changes to the equipment listed at this time. Equipment is installed and I am already thousands over what I had planned on spending.

Thanks again!

James, I wish I had found and thoroughly researched TFP before signing a contract with my PB but unfortunately I didn't (I did about a year ago). At this time, besides the pump, I think I am stuck with what I have. The equipment has been set up. We are just waiting for the pebble. Although I won't be able to control things away from the equipment pad, I'll be able to do whatever I need to at it, right? I don't have any fancy things like LED lights, water fountains, etc...
