A few hours later added CL (Low via strip)

POOL MATH SAYS ADD 8.2 DRY ACID.
FYI CNA was in 30 rage two days ago. It is going to rain the next few days

Start by reading this. Also using dry acid is not recommended. I would go buy some Muriatic Acid. Also some LC. You will need to add that to your pool and get that level up.

I used Taylor 2006
That's reassuring and most important. Great! :goodjob: Be sure to add that kit to your signature. Probably shouldn't use that nasty word (test strips) as you can tell we're like sharks here at TFP about those products. Ha ha. If you do wish to perform a quick total chlorine check, you can use the viewing comparator (yellow drop test). Once you get the pH lowered down to the mid-7 range, continue to keep an eye on your FC. As summer approaches you might also watch the CYA. Maybe summer pools nee d a CYA of at least 40 to protect the chlorine from the sun. Where I'm at we go much higher, but 40 may be fine for you. Just something to be aware of.

For FC testing using the FAS-DPD (powder & drops), you can use the 10 ml water sample size with ONE generous scoop of powder which should turn Barbie pink. Mix and count drops until clear, then divide result in half. Example: 12 drops equals an FC of 6.

Thanks. I wasn't able to get to pool store this weekend. I will go tonight after work. I used what I had bought and never used last year.
I have been using LC.
I thought my CL was ok this morning.
FC 4.8 (high), CC 0.

😆 Thank. Will do that as quick test next time! I have a small puck in the water. I am going to retest the CYA tomorrow. I used a lot of regent doing it wrong the first time and dropping test another time!

Also for FC I would start testing with a 10ml sample instead of 25ml. It will save you on reagents and the .5 precision is enough.

Use a 10ml sample and heaping spoon of powder. Each drop = .5ppm of FC.

I bought KLEEN STRIP GREEN muriatic acid at home depot, please confirm it is ok to use. It doesn't give concentration level. I didn't want to buy two gallon jugs at pool store !

My home depot has kleen strip muriatic acid for 9.98 for 1 gallon in the paint section and pool section. Right beside the kleen strip in the pool section is a cardboard box with 2 gallons of HDX muriatic acid for 12.98 for 2 gallons. next time your at home depot check the pool section for HDX muriatic acid to see if you can save some money.
