I came across this device laughing at the comments of people selling chlorine tablets for $50 each. Anyway just looking to see if anybody works something like this Ionizer in their pools and what's the benefit?

Adds copper. If you like a stained pool surface, which will be very difficult to reverse, green hair and green fingernails, go for it. Does not change the need for FC levels based on CYA levels.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

This thing gets asked about often, so I have a set response for it:

1: It is a copper ionizer. Copper ionizers are just about the worst thing you can use in a pool IMO.

2: That tiny solar panel will provide almost no power to run it, so it isn't even a very good copper ionizer.

So it fails on all accounts.

If you're looking to avoid paying $50 for a trichlor tablet, we have a pretty good system here. Keeps things clean, sanitary, and comfortable. No metals required (or recommended). You should check it out.

HAHAHA I believe you I was just curious is all. I dont have any issues keeping my pool clear and I have the supplies I need to hopefully make it through the season. I just thought Id ask and see if there was any legitamacy to this device.

Yeah Ive been following this group. Ive always used BBB but recently found TFPM and as much as it similar its much more specific. Thanks for the reply it clarifies that thing. I was just wondering

Hi all, I need power ionizer related help. Pool store sold us on the power ionizer and insist on the need to only shock once per week, needing low FC levels, no stabilizer, etc. etc. I've read all the forums here and you don't need to convince ME, I need to convince my wife that we need "normal" chlorine levels, stabilizer, etc. She swears by our pool sales guy who insists on the effectiveness of the ionizer. Can someone please point me to unbiased documentation that backs up the science? I've heard it alluded to but I'd like to read it over and parse it out myself. My water is crystal clear but the health and safety of my swimmers is of paramount importance. TIA.
