1 Inch Return Fitting/Eyeball Options?

I'm looking for a possible solution or an option to add some sort of eyeball to my pool returns. The current returns appear to be just 1 inch pipes in the side the walls of the pool. Some are covered by the finish and some you can see the end of the pipe in the wall. Is there anything that exists out there that would help make these look a little nicer and give me the ability to direct the water flow?

We had the pool refinished when we purchased the house last year and the builder added the eyeballs in the pictures to the jets in the spa which I believe were the same style and size as the pool returns but I'm just not 100% sure as the previous plaster covered the ends so you could not see the end of the pipes like you can in the pool right now. They left one of these fittings behind and it seems it would fit inside a 1.5 inch pipe which is all I can seem to find in my searches online. They couldn't have possibly hammered these into the same size openings could they? Is it possible to remove/ pull out one of these with a pair of channel locks or something to find out without damaging anything?

I can not believe this but I think I found it... Costs a whole $2.14 at home depot.. I would order both and make sure they will fit before doing anything.. using rain or shine you can install this in the water but it would be better to drain down below the return and use primer and glue.. :)

This will stick out from the side of the pool, how much I am unsure but you will know once you have the pieces...

@Texas Splash I have seen those which I believe are the same as what's in my pictures. The "slip inlet" all seem to be 1.5 inch which is what I have here. I'm guessing that's a standard return pipe size for most pools? So essentially I would be trying to put something 1.5 inch in diameter into something with 1 inch diameter (my current returns). Is it possible the plastic of the new slip fittings is soft enough to pound it in? Maybe, but I wanted to try and see if anyone has experience with this as it doesn't seem like that would work out too well. The one I have left over that the builder left behind is very hard but it could be just that it's old and weathered, I don't know.

Also, thanks for the suggestion @cowboycasey but I don't think that would be an option. I would have to actually have enough pipe (probably at least 1/2 inch) sticking out from the wall to be able to stick a reducer on it. Currently, as you can see from the pictures they are just flush with the wall.

That certainly seems like what I would need. However, in the Q&A section of that product someone asked the exact question I am and the INYO Product Specialist said he couldn’t locate a fitting to fit inside a 1 inch pipe. I’ll shoot them an email about it and ask. Thanks!

Yes I saw that but then also saw an Amazon Q&A for the same part that says they do fit in a 1 inch pipe. Well, the first answer to the question says no, but that's because that person was sent entirely the wrong part :) So who knows!?! If you google the part number, there are a number of places to get it. Good luck! (I'm a little surprised the person that initially refinished your pool didn't sort this out for you while they were doing that rather than covering over the pipe ends and making the problem worse!)

Great! Thanks for the help! I searched for hours and couldn't find the right size. I'll probably just order one and try it out.

As for the company that refinished our pool it is not surprising as they left us with much larger issues. It was a nightmare dealing with them from start to finish. I won't get too into but they were the worst and most dishonest contractor I've ever dealt with and I work with other contractors for a living.
