Polaris Wheels barely spin

Check the Pressure Relief Valve in the wall fitting. No water should be coming out of it. Also check all the hose joints and swivels.

Did you do the wheel RPM calibration check described in the manual?

None is coming out and the unit appears to have good pressure. It's not a new unit but usually runs decently , but not this season. I've never heard of the wheel calibration check, would that be applicable for an older unit ? Just seems like the wheels aren't getting enough power. Wife had it looked at they said the entire drive train needed to be replaced. When I inspected I didn't see why that would be.

Polaris sells Rebuild Kits and Tune-Up kits. See the Wiki page.

The water provides very little HP to power the cleaner. Any friction building up in the cleaner drive train has a dramatic affect on its mobility. You may not feel it or see it unless you compare it to a new unit. If your unit has not been rebuilt it probably needs its wheel bearings replaced and probably other moving parts.

I found mine would do that when a tiny piece of sand or dirt would get through the filter and lodge itself in one of the internal motor jets. I’d blow it out and it’d work for a few minutes but then another would eventually get through. I hated that thing, sold it off and bought a robot cleaner. No comparison on performance.

Yeah, sand filters and Polaris pressure cleaners don't mix well. The OP has a cartridge filter. But he may have some debris stuck in a jet.

Ok will keep that as an option... They are a bit pricey and I've replaced many of the parts. Maybe not the wheel bearings.

I'm thinking the same , every year it's something with this thing. But everyone I speak to says it's the best to have a pressure driven unit.

Ok shop is overwhelmed ... So I guess I'm back on my own. Is it worth buying the re-build kit ? As much as I might want to replace this , at 1K for most of these robots not sure that makes sense. I have a fairly large pool, will those robots handle ?

Besides bearings what would you replace ?

Robots will handle it tons better than those old pressure side robots. Hard to believe, I know, but it’s it’s true. You wonder why you wasted so much time and money on Polaris parts.
