Help! I sent multiple emails and messages to my builder requesting that the lights be placed on the long side nearest the patio. Today I found out that they drilled the holes in the wrong place! We have the goliath by Thursday pools (fiberglass) and four lights. This is where they put the lights instead. Does anyone have their lights in this location and are happy with it?

edited to add that the patio is along the side with two lights, I had wanted all four lights on that side.

My PB put in our lights so they pointed away from the house. So as they don't blind one when sitting on the deck. My question to you is is your patio/deck at the bottom of the picture or top? Bottom good top bad. IMO

.

I think their layout makes more sense. But they should have done what you had contracted them to do.
I read the various lighting guides and they all recommend for the lights to be on the same wall, also when you look at pictures of pools they look much prettier when you don’t see the lights face.

That is true but four Globrites would have been too close together to all be on that wall.

Our builder messed up the same way.
We have a 32 ft length pool and wanted two on the long side (also by patio) and they only drilled for one in the center. At first he tried to say we were crazy for needing that much light. Later he had them wire it for two

one in the center of the long side and one in the center of the shorter side (we have a rectangular pool).

Since I swim laps they said I could unplug them from the transformer if I didn’t want to use them. It is what it is I guess.
That’s not really acceptable. What would it cost for a second controller. They should accept some degree of responsibility if it was clearly in the plans and agreed upon to lay the lights out as you preferred. Do you still owe them money?

All right, it turns out the lights are also not symmetrically placed. I am told it is because there is a bench there. None of the options seem really good but to live with it. 😩

i don't think this is going to greatly impact your enjoyment of the pool in the long run as the light placement is fairly subjective. However, you should get what you pay for and i do think the PB should do something for you if you had it clearly laid out in your contract where the lights should be - it looks like you might be able to add a 3rd light at 8 or 7.5 feet from the right light and get somewhat of an even distribution of 3 lights.

We did discuss that. I’m going to see how the lights look tonight, and decide then.
