Hi, I have a gulfstream heat pump on my pool and spa. It is still under warranty but I am getting no help from the company. It does not seem to be syncing with my automation. It has my pool and spa mixed up on its display and may have additional issues. It does produce heat so that’s not the issue. I’m thinking perhaps that wires may be reversed somewhere. Any thoughts?

What automation do you have?

How old is the HP?

Did it ever work properly?

What additional issues?

How do you expect the HP to synchronize with your automation?

I have an aqua logic automation
heat pump is 7 months old, always had this problem but I never realized it.
automation works fine with all else. Hp heats well.
i want the heat pump to correctly Id pool vs spa. I have a notion that it was not installed properly or not comparable with aqua logic.
this is my first pool so ive spent the last 7 months learning.
I had many other issues that I have repaired already, new pump, air leaks, worn o rings, etc.

It can't. The Aqualogic only has a simple on/off control for a heater.

It was installed properly.

or not comparable with aqua logic.

A Hayward HP that communicates using a Hayward RS-485 data link may do what you want.

Now the question is why do you care?

The only thing that the pool or spa at the heater gives you is dual thermostats so you can set a desired temperature for the pool and for the spa and not need to reset it. Your Aqualobic gives you the dual thermostats since it controls the heater temperature and does not rely on the heater thermostats.

Ok, after reading the article, I think I get it. I am going to turn the heater controls to max then set my automation to the desired spa and pool settings. This should solve my problem, correct?

I care because i have a multi (3 )generation home ranging from 8 to 70. I travel and want the automation to be easy for all and not heat the pool to 103 when I’m gone. The pool will be heated along with the normal filtering. When spa is needed, I simply wast to push the spa button and let it heat up. Does that make sense or am I crazy?
Thanks for your help, hopefully I will know tomorrow if it works.

You use the POOL and SPA controls on your AquaLogic. You should never touch the heater controls.

Ok, I loaded the factory settings on the heater. I will let you know what happens.

This morning the heater was on WATER FLOW LOCKOUT, I reset, pool heated to temp and the heater turned off. Checked the heater shortly afternoon and saw that a countdown had started, it repeats the countdown from 120 to the high 80’s continually. Thoughts?

See page 17 in https://gulfstreamheatpump.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/HO-Manual-2020-V5.5.pdf

I see a countdown on my display and my unit is not kicking on:
Delay is a 2-minute waiting period to allow the unit pressures to
balance out.
Once the count-down reaches zero, the unit should kick

on. If not, the unit may require a new contactor.

Unit Displays No Flow or Water Flow HP:
Check to make sure the Pool Pump is on and primed
If pump is off, or not primed it will not send any water through
the system.
Check any bypass valves
Make sure they are not redirecting the water away from the
unit you want to make sure that you are getting anywhere
from 30 GPM to 70 GPM through the unit.
Check the pool filter to make sure it is clean
If filter is dirty then the unit will not receive the correct
amount of water. Make sure that the filter is being cleaned or
replaced when is necessary.

Unit Displays Water Flow Lockout:
Once the unit has had a Water Flow HP 3 times the unit will lockout
Check the same flow issues for No Flow and Water Flow HP

Allen, my heater always displays no flow after the pump turns off. I have never seen water flow HP. Filter is clean. I don’t know how to check the flow rate, but I assume it is ok.
perhaps the HP tried to turn on prior to the pump? I don’t know as I checked it after the pump was turned on.
HP is under warranty

See if you keep on getting WATER FLOW LOCKOUT or if it was a one time glitch.

HP is under warranty but Gulf Stream doesn’t have anyone in my area that can service it. Their customer service is terrible.
Allen, ok here is the mystery to me. This morning prior to turn on of the system, the WATER FLOW LOCKOUT was on the heater screen. I can’t understand what would cause this.

Thanks, Allen, I am about to look at the manual. Quick update so I don’t forget. 1pm...pool is up to temperature. heater light off on aqua logic. Heater fan still running but condensation appears to have stopped.

My circulation pump is Jandy pro series, flo pro FHPM 1.5 one speed. New
heat pump Gulfstream HE110-R-A

Aqua logic one page at a time. Being new to pools, I’m having a hard time understanding #1. On page 10. I have only one heat pump (heater 1) and heater 2 is disabled.
im not sure what else has to be programmed and I am confused as to reference to Valve 4.

Are you connecting the Aqualogic heater relay contacts to the thermostat contacts on the heat pump?

Also, if you are getting a lock out on the heater when the pump is off, does it clear when the pump turns back on. If not, you may need to setup a relay in the Aqualogic that shuts off the heater when the pump shuts off. This can be done through a group control function assuming your version has it. What is the Aqualogic version?

Not sure where to find my aqua logic version.
I have to clear the heat pump WATER FLOW LOCKOUT manually on the heater.
I have not touched any of the wiring , the heat pump was installed during my escrow on the home purchase and under warranty.
