Opening AG pool, this is new to me

FC of 1.05...maybe that should have been 1.
The more I read in TFP, the more I realize I don’t know. Before I proceed further I now wonder: Is my water temp in the proper range for correct CYA readings? Hovering between 59-61 degrees recently.
Draining water and refilling is daunting bc I’m concerned I’ll simply create different problems somehow.
It will cost me a small fortune in chlorine to maintain an FC of 31 during SLAM, won’t it?? If I’m losing so much, from 14 to 1 overnight—seems like a lot of chlorine and $$ down the drain so to speak. And am I even reading the CYA test correctly??
Not feeling very confident about this project at the moment. Anyone want to trade a AG pool for a hot tub???
I found my mistake. That FC should have been 10.5. Once I figured that out, my frustration level melted away and my confidence in this process grew.
For the past few days I’ve been testing and following whatever the PoolMath app suggests. I think I’m ok to continue to maintain my pool in this manner now, right?
So my question today is: how do I know my routine daily target for FC? Does the PoolMath app tell me that? For instance, today the app recommends an FC of 7 while previously it was recommending 9 for the FC target.
My CYA is a little fluctuating, prob because I am still mastering how to read that test.
Thanks so much for all the help.
Pool maintenance has become fun instead of a dreaded intimidating chore

The target changes based on your CYA. CYA cannot change quickly unless you add it or drain a significant portion of pool water.
Once you get a CYA value, use it. Test monthly unless one of the above things happen.

Try to keep it simple so you don't go nuts. Take your CYA and go to the FC/CYA Levels to find your ideal FC level. Once you know that, add enough chlorine to stay within that level and NEVER fall below the minimum. You never want to lose more than 4 ppm of FC in a 24 hr period unless perhaps you have a large pool party. You'll see a pattern over time where you add x-amount of chlorine and know that you "expect" to be at an FC level the next day.
