New AGP sides bowing

I just went out and checked and there's no gap between the rail and the wall like it is on the other sections so it looks like the railing might be pushing to hard down on it. We're going to loosen the screws and see if we can get it to not press down as hard. If that's what was causing it, how to I get it to go back?

Well, we fixed the ladder but upon closer inspection, it seems like there might be a slight high spot right under a small portion of the track (like maybe 6 inches). My husband is going to use a plastic putty knife and see if he can remove a little bit of the sand there to see if he can get it to come back out. Risky?

Is the wall in the middle of the bottom rail? Could the rail be twisted a bit to the inside?

I am think someone could get in the pool with a soft push broom and push on the liner/wall in that area and see what happens.

My husband with a stiff paint brush and a putty knife was able to scrape away just a little bit of the ground and get it to pop back to normal. It looks perfect now. We could not have done this without you. We're almost ready to install the pump now and feel much more confident in the structural integrity of everything to be able to do so. My husband took one more lap around the pool to check for any abnormalities and so far it looks good. Thank you all soooo much for your help.

That happens when there is a high spot as you've noticed.

SWEET!!!! Now lets do some learning on how to care for the STRAIGHT new pool!!!

How are you going to plumb the equipment? Make sure to put valves under the skimmer and return. That way when you need to work on the equipment all you have to do is close the valve and not lose much water. I hope you are using pvc pipe as it lasts a lot longer and is not as prone to coming loose. Make sure to use unions on both sides of each piece of equipment for ease of removal.

Another tip-have your hubby dig down about 3" in the area under the return and skimmer area. Have him think about where the water might splash out when the skimmer overflows from a big rain and IF the pipe comes off at the return. Put gravel in that are then put stepping stones on the gravel with is slightly sloped away from the pool wall. Do NOT let the stepping stone touch the wall. Just a hair away from it so it does not touch the wall.

I passed the info along. He said to tell you thank you and to kill him now. I think he's had enough with this pool :) . I hope our kids' enjoyment of it makes him feel like it was worth it once it gets going. I really appreciate all the info. We definitely want to do things right so we only have to do it once.

Sorry Dad! BUT it sure beats having the water spilling over and washing the sand out from under the pool and you having to push it back in when you get back home from work.............ask me how I know!!!!

Next-how are you adding chlorine to the pool? I want you to read this:

I will look that over. We got a SWG and 11 bags of salt to add to the pool. The instructions said to let the salt dissolve for 24 hours before turning on the SWG. I figured we'd run the pump to get it all clean and mixed and the next day turn on the SWG.

You got a SWG??? OH YEAH!!! You are off to a great start!!! Well that and finding TFP!!!

If the kids (how many?) are up to getting in that cold water let them jump in for "diamond day". That is what we call it when we add the salt. As the salt floats down it looks like salt. Them swimming and playing helps mix it in.

I have an almost 5 year old and an almost 2 year old so they can't touch the bottom yet. It's unfortunately only going to be in the mid 70s next week so I'm not sure if my girls will want to go in there but we'll see.

Question for you about the level of the water. I can see based on the water line and the fake tile on the liner sides that it's slightly off level. Like maybe an inch or inch and a half in places. How normal is that and is it something to be concerned about?

Too burrrrrrrrrrr for them to play in the pool yet. Just brush the pool real good to help mix the salt in and leave the pump running over night to mix it in good.

So long as it is no more that 2" off then you are good.

Lets finish setting up your account. Please fill in your signature so everyone can see what you are working with at a glance. Go up to your name, click on it, click on signature, fill in your pool info. Kind of pool (above ground), speed of pump 1 or 2 speed, kind of filter (sand, cartridge, DE), kind and size of SWG and how you are testing your water. THANKS!

Dont add all that salt at once. Add half of what the pool calculator calls for and then test it after it is dissolved and then add more. It's easier to sneak up on the salt than it is to overshoot it and have too much. If you add too much, you'll have to drain some and then refill.

I will do that. We had originally purchased the TK-100 test kit and in the 8 month wait to put up the pool, it was misplaced somewhere. I'm currently waiting for the salt water testing kit so by Wednesday or Thursday I'll be able to test the salt level. In the meantime, I'll add 5 or 6 bags just to get it going. I don't want it to get too green while I wait. Thanks for the advice. If you have anymore, send it my way!

I should change the title of this thread to nightmare pool install. We went out this morning and found this.

I don't know if you can tell from the picture but the post is bowing out fairly significantly. I'm about 90% sure we have to drain it but I just wanted to know how much of an emergency this is. We are calling a professional today and trying to get some expert advice but as you can see from the picture, those are my neighbors' fences and their houses are lower than mine.

My unqualified guess would be that your pool is not imminently likely to fail. Hard to tell angle from a picture though of course.

For reference my pool is 18' round and if I hold a string against the the top of the worst outward leaning post, with a weight on the bottom of it, the bottom of the string hangs 2" away from the post. Mine has been standing that way for a year, can't say I've tested it with cannonballs off the roof but it's been fine for regular swimming otherwise.
