Imagine Illusion 40 Complete 10/19/21

He wants half the build up front to cover cost of pool shell and equipment which I think is reasonable
Half is great. It’s the other stages that are in question, like if he wants 48% when the shell is installed leaving you nothing to bargain with at the equipment stage or later.

I got a chance to speak with my Little Princess yesterday and she saw pictures in her Momma's phone of her swimming pool. I ended up telling her that LaLa is in fact buying her an inground swimming pool and a sliding board and she is so happy that she was screaming on the phone n she wants it now. Lol She then realized that's what the color samples were. She could care less about the color. She's excited as is my daughter over this pool! I'm ready to get it started. I just want to swim. I feel like we haven't been able to do that in forever!

Ha !!! That’s what I said about the last one.... that we could debate that Aqua was pretty and Blue was beautiful, but all she’d care was that it was wet and she could hop in it !!! :ROFLMAO:
. I feel like we haven't been able to do that in forever!
To be fair, this last year was counted in dog years. So it kinda was forever.

And OMG !!! I can’t believe I missed this. Please accept my belated welcome to Team Can’tTouchBottom !!! For some, like our beloved @thefloatqueen, It’s all irrelevant, but it’s a distinct feeling that many of us swear by.

Unless of course you sell your house with Team Can’tTouch and de facto join Team CanTouch like some *other* idiot. But I’m workin on that!!

We are well on our way. Contract being written tomorrow. He's going to order my pool and pay for everything out of his pocket once I return my signed contract and then I'll pay him half of the contract amount. Then next 2 payments will be split in half. Second payment due on drop day and last payment due when job is 100% complete.

The pool will sit on 100% 1b8 rock chips compacted. Then the pool hole will be filled simultaneously with same 1b8 chips on sides and water added. Water is included in build bid.

One long side of pool closest to the road will have 8ft concrete. Other long side of pool will have 9ft of concrete. Short ends will have 4ft of concrete.

Pool will be aligned with the driveway. No retaining wall needed. All fill will be kept on sight.

Had his electrician out at same time as my builder... he's coming in at a little under $3k for electrical from garage. Figured we could kill two birds with one stone. Builder was pleasantly surprised to see him.

They will work together to bond the pool and the pad together.

I switched the filter to a DE filter only because I love DE. I will have no regrets there. I just love how clean the water looks.

Oh n I forgot to say that all 3 returns are going to be run separately from one another. The skimmer is also run on it's own separate line. And I will get a well point with a cover beside the skimmer in the deep end. I did forget to ask about the level standard although he did show me several fiberglass installs he did last year including an "Illusion 35" in beach sand. It was beautiful. He's done a lot of fiberglass installs. More so than vinyl liners in the last few years. I feel like I've chosen a great builder. Now I just sit here and wait.

It was a 10 micron difference between the DE and cartridge IIRC. The DE ‘wins’ but in the real world the only thing it wins is bragging rights. (Brag all you want though, because fair is fair :)).

I challenged a member to come spot those microns once and said I’d provide the beer. I guaranteed him we would be blackout before he found one.
10 microns - that's a mile! I am spending hours at work trying to fix some metal that is 65nm off from where it is supposed to be :)

Working on getting my zoning and building permit. I dont want to be caught with my pants down.

The town people tried their best to convince me to save the PBs $350 charge to file it all for me. I was agreeable with them that it was simple paperwork but I still chose to have the PB do it in case any bumps arose.

My builder said it's my responsibility and I'm ok with that. I did it for our garage in December. I just want to get a move on it and have it ready since were in Covid Times and everything takes 10 times longer to do. Ya know?!

I don't know if you have two skimmers or even want two, but our pool is only around 26' by 14' and I wish I had two because the wind isn't always consistent. I think with two plumbed separately back to valves at the pad, I could keep it more bug, flower and leaf free more of the time. Just my two cents worth for your lovely big pool!

I've seen a bunch of these fiberglass pools with just one skimmer. I'm just going with the one n hope for the best.

I had the traditional 2 returns in the shallow end pushing to the 2 skimmers in the deep end. It had its drawbacks, like the dead zone between the 2 skimmers that just sat there in an outward triangle, And if the wind was blowing that day nothing got picked up at all unless I cranked the RPMs, But at least most of the time the 2 was fine. With only 1, too much will be sitting there dead in the corners.

I also really preferred the timeless design. As much as I appreciate the pools with the 3 skimmers down the long side, it just doesn’t feel right to me looking at it.

Talk to @Texas Splash about 1 vs 2 skimmers. I have seen him say he has 1 and wish he got 2.
