This is my sister’s pool equipment in the DFW, TX area. She has no idea the damage that was done to her equipment! She said she never winterizes her pool. Her “pool guy” puts a leaf net on for the winter and then sets the pump to run a few hours at night. I wonder how many pool owners are going to be in for a big surprise after the thaw!

It will buff out.

Cracked PVC can easily be repaired. I can foresee a shortage of pumps, filters, and valves this spring with all the pools needing equipment and the continuing supply chain issues from China where most of this stuff is manufactured.

Buy the equipment you need early and warehouse it until you can install it. Waiting for a pool company to supply equipment may lead to big delays.

In one of these times I would utilize a 30-60 day return policy from a vendor. (Doublecheck the specific vendors policy of course, terms, restocking fees, etc). If I had reason to suspect I was going to need equipment I would buy it now before they sell out and return if I got lucky when it all thawed.

Thanks to my credit card cycle I would probably be credited before I even payed / short term loaned it.

I put tarps over my equip pad and in-floor cleaner manifolds (they are behind my pool) AND added a halogen lamp underneath for added heat. So far, so good, but my pool is mostly inground and still surviving....Unfortunately, one of my neighbors is going to have a rough week:

I like the view from your pool. However it looks like if you get out on that side of the pool you may fall of a cliff!

Well, TX isn't structured for winter: No salt, no plows and certainly not the power to withstand low temps for this long. If this becomes more of a thing, then yes, it would be a 'Thursday'.:)
