I have never seen this type of overflow for pools, most are built into the autofill device so nothing is being splashed out... Do you have one of these?

My overflow is exactly like this. It's a simple grate that covers a drain pipe installed on the top half of a waterline tile.

Mine too. I've never seen this, but seems like a simple solution if you want to raise your pool level.

My overflow drain is a grate too but it is round like the shape of the pipe instead of square.
