Oh No! Pool drain!

RamenLover, you've got some nice gear, and a great looking pool! It's like an oasis. There are folks here that can help you sort out the equipment and valves. Let us know when you get your test kit and are moved in.
Is it nice? That's nice to hear. One just never knows. I can't wait until the pool is beautiful and I get the foliage sorted out. I think pools are going to be my new hobby. Do they have a "most perfect water competition"? :D

There are a few threads here where we show off our pools. But no "most perfect water competition" because we're all using TFP methods and so we all have perfect water! Just wait and see how yours will turn out!

I went back and looked at your before and after pics. It's hard to tell from the photos, but your before shots don't look all that clear either. Like I said, just wait until we're done with you. Those little pebbles you're describing? You'll be able to count those in the deep end your water will be so clear!!

You're going to turn your pool into a hobby? Join the club!! 😊

I opened the chlorine dispenser mechanism and took a whiff on accident. Should I be concerned? Everything smells funny now.
Ahhh bleach nose ... the upside is less nose hairs🤣🤣 it will definitely take your breath away. Get plenty of fresh air & u should be ok. Maybe rinse w/the neti pot?
I use the same method with opening chems as we are taught in the apprenticeship when turning off/on breakers —- turn your head & look away!

That’s a new one to me! I better start looking away when I turn them off and on!

OK, RamenLover, are you ready for some homework, while you're waiting on your kit?

You can load your smart phone up with two important things. The Pool Math app, and the TFP Pool School eBook.

The app you'll use to record your test results. When you plug in the results, the app tells you how much of what to dose your pool. Get it loaded up, and buy the in-app upgrade. You can create a pool and name it.

Pool School is a series of articles that explains how we do what we do, and how you're going to do what you're going to do to your pool. It's available here, as a collection of web pages, or as an eBook. I really like the eBook, because you can read it end to end, and its articles are in an order that makes sense. The online version you have to kinda jump around and find all the pages. Either way, but I recommend the eBook, which you can find at the bottom of the Pool School page:

Now get to class, young man!! When you're done with all that, report back and I'll give you your next assignment.

And if Pool School stumps you here and there, no worries. Most of us have read most of it a few times. Each time through it makes a little more sense! 😊

Sir yes sir. Just finished reading the ebook. Great stuff. It’s making me curious about a salt water conversion.

Ive cleaned my DE filter and recharged it with DE. Looks like a bit too much maybe as there’s a layer of DE at the deepest part of my pool now.

The pump flow is much much much better now. I’ve been pouring a gallon of liquid chlorine and running the filter each day. Just waiting for that kit to arrive. :)
