24’ Carvin Gold series pool install

I’ve done a lot of reading here but this is my first post. I greatly appreciate the huge amount of info on this forum and have learned a ton over the last year of reading.

Last year we had a 15’ intex inflatable top ring pool we used to See if the kids used it and what we thought of having a pool. They were in it every day all summer long! This year we decided to get a real pool that was larger and could just stay up..... then Covid happened and it was very difficult/impossible to find a pool.

We ordered one in May, and just got The pool delivered this weekend!

We went with a Carvin Gold series Whitewood. 24’ round with 52” wall.

Started the install and didn’t get done nearly as much as we had hoped in the first weekend, but it was also almost 100 degrees.

I got the pool area leveled (I had dug it out previously after ordering the pool) and the 150’ electrical trench dug, conduit installed.

My wife got very frustrated with how much work it has been so far, and we haven’t started putting up the pool yet. We thought about hiring someone to erect the pool at this point but everyone in area is so backed up, we haven’t been able to find anyone.


The posts around the dug out area are for retaining wall If anyone is wondering.

No, I’d never have been able to dig that by hand! Lol

I have a tractor with a backhoe on it. Took about 2 hours since I ran into some pretty good sized rocks.

I keep telling my wife leveling the area is suppose to be the hardest part. She is worried about getting the wall into the track without everything getting moved out of place.

You could use landscape stakes to hold the track in place while you put wall down. Get some friends or family. We did ours about a month ago and we had 5 or 6 of us on the wall and it wasn't bad. 1 person holding the starting point, 3 of us unrolling and putting in track and 1 or 2 people holding as it gets wobbly when you get towards end. We probably had too many people but it was easier. Had 3 people spreading sand out. Liner was pretty easy if you have a unibead- just hooks on wall and fits. Really once it was leveled we had water filling within 2 hours.

Little update for AJ.A or if anyone else looked at this thread. Lol

We found a local highly recommended pool contractor to install the pool for us, and best part is he had an opening for this weekend! I’ll make sure to get pics of the install!

He was a little apprehensive about using the ridged foam for the bottom saying in the 30 years he has been doing pools he only saw a couple with that and maybe installed one, but said if that’s what we want to use, he will do it.

I just need to finish up the electrical portion by Saturday afternoon when the pool should be done. Just a mater of pulling wire and installing devices at this point.

I’m sure we could have self-installed, but this just works out better for us time wise Especially with living in Connecticut and having a very limited season left.

Got the electrical wrapped up today, pool install got pushed to Monday as his Friday job didn’t get finished in time so he needed a few hours today to finish that up.

Looking forward to seeing your final build! We are in the midst of installing our own Blue Wave 30' x 54" AGP. We are hoping next weekend to actually erect the pool. We just happen to find this one on Ebay through a wholesaler. We had the entire pool shipped within a week! I was really surprised!

I had to run and leave for work as soon as the second water truck delivered. Still need to finish up the filter and do my bonding. But the pool itself is complete!

nice! Hopefully you get some use out of it this year. Been cold and rainy in Ohio for the past few days and my water went down 10 degrees.. brrr

Hoping this tropical storm and 2-4” of rain we are suppose to get tips off the water. I don’t want to fill from my well if I don’t have to knowing the rain is coming today. I know it’s not ideal but I added the recommended dose of chlorine via pool math just so there is something in the water and stirred it around with the leaf net. I know it’s not ideal but hopefully after the storm is past and I get a few inches of water in there I can rub the pump and get everything circulated.

I would try to get some stabilizer in there too if possible. You are supposed to put it in a sock in your skimmer or in front of the return but maybe just sprinkle it around and stir it up.

if not just keep an eye on chlorine levels so it doesn't get too low and you get algae during the storm.

Looks great!
Also looks like you've got a bit of a "moat" around the pool right now. If you're expecting that much rain, be careful that the water doesn't pool up around the outside of the wall and risk washing out the sand underneath.

Agreed. With no stabilizer, the sun can cook 4-5 ppm of chlorine out of the pool in just a few hours.
