Cloudy water

I just checked my logs and my CYA was 50ppm last month, I checked it last week and it was 40ppm. The temps here hover around 100f and it is sunny all the time, I also have an auto filler. How much of the loss can be attributed to heat, UV or fresh water? I don't know, but I know it needs to be monitored regularly.
 
Just a touch north of Atlanta and I cannot make it through the summer without adding cya back to 70. I have dropped from 70 to 60 once so far this season.

From Nov, when we stop using the pool, to April when we start, (pool stays operational, just too cold) my cya drops to 30 or below from 70.

I don't try to explain it, I am no chemgeek, but it is what I have observed in 2 years.

Fresh water is not the culprit (from evaporation). You’ll lose some CYA to degradation from the heat/UV load, the rest you lose to rainwater dilution and splash out.
 
My tests from yesterday to today showed the Chlorine level drop pretty badly. I traced the culprit to the old bottle of bleach (pool shock) I left sitting out in the sun. It is a leftover from last season.

Before I dipped into that bottle, I was using some fresher temp controlled 10% stuff, but ran out.

I have a couple pounds of granular shock sitting here. Math shows 8 ounces would be the correct dose for my pool. Any downside to this until I can pick up some more bleach tomorrow evening?
