Looking to Add SWG

I currently have an in line chlorinator and having to add the tablets and seeing the CYA rapidly climb is not something I am pleased with.

I would like to add a SWG to my equipment to eliminate that issue.

I have been reading the posts here but would like to see your suggestions on what to buy so I can get it ordered and installed promptly.

I see you have an Easytouch with Screenlogic. So the most logical thing to install is a Pentair Intellichlor SWCG. I suggest the IC40.

You will need a 24" long straight run of pipe after the heater. Post a picture of your equipment pad.

Will you be installing this or will you hire it done?

Since you already have an IntelliFlo and EasyTouch/Screenlogic, then the only real choice is the IntelliChlor IC40 SWCG... Since the salt system was not part of your original EasyTouch, you will need to also buy the IntelliChlor Power Center..

Basically the Power Center would be powered off the load side of your pump/filter relay.. You would then wire the com port of the EasyTouch into the power center.. Then you will get to see a page like this one...

I would do it with a vertical kit on the pipe with the pink mark and eliminate the chlorinator.

To cover all areas - difference between iChlor and the IC40?

There are some members now with iChlor. Not much run time on them. IC SWCG are known quantities, we know the flow switch/thermistor is a weak link but have work around for that issue that lasts a long time.

I assume the iChlor is controllable by the ET, but you should check that to be sure.

A self install of Pentair equipment gets a 60 day warranty. If you have a 'professional' install it, you get a 2 year warranty. So a licensed plumber, electrician, etc qualifies for you to get a warranty. Just need an invoice from them showing the install.

I think I’ll be happier with the swg vs the current setup.

When you go to buy salt, do NOT get Clorox pool salt. Many reports of it staining pools. I use plain water softener salt from Home Depot.
Order a K1766 salinity test kit from TFTestkits.net. Test your pool water salinity prior to adding salt. You may be surprised what level of salt you have in the water now. Only add 2/3rds the amount of salt called for to get to 3200 ppm. Circulate a couple days and then test salinity. Add the balance needed.
