I need to add ch to the pool. It’s testing at 200 right now. I have a plaster pool. Should I raise to 300? How much do I put in at a time and what is the best method? Thanks!

In your area, where I suspect you get rain and thus overflow out of your pool, it would be wise to keep CH at 250-300 ppm.

Read Recommended Pool Chemicals - Trouble Free Pool under Calcium Hardness.

Put in half the amount that Poolmath says too, wait a couple days, retest, and add the rest.

250-350 is the recommended, so your not far off the mark. What is the sanitiser in use? if your using tablets/granules these will increase your CH so you might not need to do much. You also need to test your source water to see what it is adding or taking away from your pool chemistry.

Calcium Chloride is used to raise CH and is readily available. You should use the Pool Math app to calculate how much to add (available via the menu)

Calcium Chloride should be spread across the deep end of the pool, be ready with a brush in case it settles on the bottom

Ok thank you so much! My fill water tested at 125. I’ll add 14 pounds then for now and retest

I add cya through the sock method. I don’t use pucks

Just brush it around. Like stirring sugar into ice tea but on a massive scale.

Oh ok. That makes sense. Also what should I aim for for ch? If sitting at 200 should I shoot for 250 or more?
