Hey again guys,

24K gallon IG vinyl liner pool. Water temp 80 degrees. Finally received my Taylor 2006 test kit. New liner 3 weeks ago, fresh fill with water trucks, spring water.

Here are my readings as of yesterday.

FC 2.5
TC 2.5
PH 7.2
TA 200
CH 165
CYA 45

I have been adding Muriatic acid each day. 24 ounces. It has come down from 250 or so but it is taking a long time. Just wondering about my next step. The pool is clear.

Thanks again.

Brian

Safe drinking water levels are allowed up to 4ppm FC. I doubt you will even sense a FC of 6ppm and it is not too high for your CYA level. You can safely swim up to your SLAM level which is significantly higher than your target range. Keep it sanitized and rest easy. :paddle:

Sorry, one more question. So stop using the muriatic acid? If the TA is in fact that high do I keep treating it? Thanks again.
Forget about TA. It has nothing to do with clarity or algae. High TA makes pH rise quickly, and that's about the extent of your concerns. Your numbers show you're not in danger of calcium scale.

All you have to do is lower the pH to 7.2 whenever it gets to 7.8 or 8. Each time you lower pH, you also lower TA. pH will rise again, TA will stay put (unless you add more TA via fill water) There's no reason to attack it aggressively. It'll come down over time. Each time you need to adjust pH, the amount of acid will decrease and the amount of time it lasts before the next adjustment will increase.
