Wrinkles on the whole bottom of pool liner

When I purchased this house, I didn’t know how to check the pool. I am still learning as well. I am not even sure if I caused the wrinkles or not.
So my question is that, is it normal to have wrinkles all over the bottom of the pool liner? Some area have less wrinkles and some area have more, but it’s all over the bottom. No wrinkles on the wall. The wrinkles are more servers by the ladder.

When I opened the pool I noticed there are water trapped around the bottom of the pool from the exterior. I am not sure why it’s built that way, but a piece of metal or wood a few inches tall is circled all around the pool exterior. So the water just sit there at the bottom.

Could be caused chemically. Wrinkles will not affect the pool in anyway. They are just ugly. Plain n simple. Most people who use the pool wont care. It mainly bugs the person caring for the pool. As far as the other issue goes, pics of the pool from the outside would be helpful so we can troubleshoot the issue n find a solution for excessive ground water.

Can you post a pic of that board and the surrounding area of the pool so we can see the slope? It's possible it is related to the wrinkles.

+1 what Casey said. There is really no telling why but for now we can maybe help it from getting worse. Proper water care and letting us look at the outside wall may lead to a fix.

I attached some pictures. I am not sure if I can actually do anything about the outside of the pool. It’s got the deck around the pool. Also I attached a picture of the wrinkle by the ladder.

The previous owner raise the deck high while this is an above ground pool, or is this a semi above ground? In the spring when it rain a lot, I see water trap between the pieces of wood and pool exterior wall. I don’t like it because I think it also breed mosquitoes?

If the wrinkles does not effect the longevity of the pool, it won’t be much of a concern to me then.

Thanks! It wasn’t like that when I purchased the home. It was a mess, no light at all. Post light just had to change bulbs, but I added the Solar LED light bulbs, hang up some flower and pots of hydrangea. I kept myself busy the last few months. I was going crazy being too bored.

I think the light at night and having the filter on at night attract a lot of ants and bugs tho. I read somewhere reflection of light does that.

My guess is they put the boards there to keep the dirt away from the walls to help keep it from rusting BUT with with catching water like that........................For now use a turkey baster to suck the water out. Dave may come up with an idea. Lets see what he has to say.

I saw water sitting there for a while in the springs time. I can also made the wrinkles because I added a lot of chemical. First the pool store told me to add CYS and tell me to dump it inside and let it dissolve and brush. I did that. Then I increased the Calcium hardness I’m reset by adding it directly to the pool....

Those wrinkles are a direct result of the ground water under the pool wall n deck. You need to put some kind of draining system in to divert the water. That's why you have the wrinkles.

Do you have any idea how I can design a draining system? Space is very limited because it’s under the deck... also only half of the pool have some space for me to see the bottom, the other half is completely covered by the deck. Maybe I should have dry cloth and sock up some water every Spring. Even that would be difficult. I shoved my hand down there to take pictures. I have maybe 2-3 inches of space.

If you really want to fix this, I'd say that you'd need to pull that deck apart to actually get that dirt away from the pool.

Lol no way, I don’t want to fix it then.

You have a high water table in your area and water is going that high. Unless you add drainage, French drain or a sump not much you can do.

And that's your choice. You'll just have to live with the wrinkles. If you ever go to do a liner change, make sure it's in the hottest part of the summer when it hasn't rained forever or you may lose the pool to shifting dirt n ground water.
