Timer at Breaker Box?

Hi.

We've just moved and the pool has an intermatic timer, but it's in the basement at the breaker box.

I've just got the pool running, but since there's obviously a lot of setting up, checking for leaks, cleaning, chemicals, etc when setting it up, I just left the timer on 24/7 and turned it on/off at the pump.

Now that I'm getting closer to having things on autopilot, I can't figure out how to set up the timer.

I want the filter running overnight, but my weekly cleanings will be during the day, and I plan to add bleach In the morning so I want the pump running for a little while.

Any solution other than:
-Rewiring
-have filter run during the day
-bypassing the timer and manually turning it on for 8 hrs during the day

I can't for the life of me figure out why they didn't just install the timer/switch at the pump

The days you want the cleaner to run, just pull the dial out and adjust the time so that it turns on and off when you want. When you get home, reset it to the correct time.

Edit: alternately, get a second set of trippers and set an off one an hour after you leave for work. Manually flip it on and leave.

Likely the best solution will be to relocate the timer from the breaker box in the basement to the pool equipment pad. If you do that, the timer needs to be in a waterproof enclosure.

I guess so... Perhaps is was wishful thinking that there was a better solution.

I think I'm just going to leave it on permanently and turn it on/off when I walk the dog.

Eventually I'll install a timer at the pump.
