CUTTING A HOLE IN AN ABOVE GROUND POOL

Good morning to you all. I hope someone can help.

I have an above ground pool and need to cut a hole in the side to feed the plastic inlet tube through for my pump.

I wanted advice on the best way to do this and the kit I need to get to make the hole secure, so that it will be sturdy enough to hold the tube.

The pool will need to be setup and filled with water before doing anything to the liner (you want it stretched into place)

The pool didn’t come with holes already cut, for suction (water to pump) and return or inlet (water from pump to pool)?

Hi Kelly, no it didn't ... we ordered the vinyl and didn't request holes to be put in it. However, we regret that now because air keeps getting in the pump and it is a nightmare to keep resetting it.

I have completed the signature details.... thanks for the heads up. The vinyl is in and we have used the pool, but the pump is a nightmare as the hose goes over the top and it keeps getting air in and we have to keep resetting. I need a solution to stop that happening... Can you help?

However, there are different ways this has to be done, depending on the type of pool wall (it sounds like you have a hard wall w/a liner?)
Either way, you will need to consider where to cut the openings for the inlet (possibly a skimmer? water to pump) & outlet (water to pool).

Hello and thanks for response. Im not worried out cutting the hole in the metal... what I need to know is how I make the hole in the vinyl secure after I have cut it........ does that make sense

Yes! Good to know
Okay, your inlets and outlets should have (will need) 3 gaskets, those will go:
#2 inside between the inlet/outlet and the vinyl
#3 between the vinyl liner and metal wall
#3 outside between the metal wall and plastic tightening nut (#4)

Thanks for this, so basically I just cut the hole and secure with the gaskets??? If I get a new pump, will all the fittings come as standard??

Just make sure the fittings are the same size, even if you get the same brand, there could be different sizes.
